I think they could've done better, like how they left out parts. I know alot of them where just fillers but it would've been nice to see some of them in there. One filler that would've been nice to see was the one with Jet or the Pirate one they were some of my favorites. I think the bending effects could've been a little better, and one part with bending they left out was when Aang turned into the gaint koi fish that beat the fire nation's attack. Thats reminds me that they left all the stuff about General Zhao out which also would've been nice to have in there. So over all I give this movie a 3/5 because it was a good movie but some parts could've been improved.

Good? The movie was GARBAGE! I absolutely hate this movie. The problem was that they over hyped it. The CGI was the only OK part, and even that was stupid after a while. The plot, the story, all of that seemed too rushed, like they were trying to explain all 3 seasons of the show in one movie. I personally think that they could have divided the movie into parts like the last Harry Potter movie. But they didn't, so the movie just blew. 1/5 because they couldn't straighten the story out and the actors looked like they never acted before in their lives too.

For those of you who do not know what this movie is about, here is the plot. A war has been raging between the Fire, Water, Air, and Earth Nations for about 100 years. Katara and her brother Sokka, find The Avatar, Aang (pronounced ong in the movie), who will be the one who can end the war and bring peace to the world. Already a master of Airbending, Aang must first learn how to master the other three elements (Fire, Water, Earth) before he can battle the Fire Lord, the leader of the Fire Nation. This movie is probably the first of what will be three (much like the three “books” in the series).
I was greatly anticipating this movie as I am a fan of the animated series. I had actually read a review about this movie in the local paper the day before I went to see it. It was highly negativistic, but I was still hoping for the best. I should have taken a hint from it.
Now with any movie that was converted from a TV or book series, it is understandable that some plot details had to be omitted to fit it into the time constraints of a two-hour movie. However, this movie had been cut down to only a few key pieces. And this compounds the problems of other parts of this movie.
The characters’ personalities were just completely off of what they should have been. Our heroes and heroines are a bunch of teens and preteens –Aang is only twelve years old if you do not count the years he was incased in ice before Katara found him. Even if there had not been an anime series, it only seems right that they would act light-heartedly, and not want to get involved with a World War. Yet there was only one light-hearted scene in the entire movie that I remember. With how much they needed to fit the series into just two hours (or less), the movie leaves you thinking that these kids are ready to kill for the sake of world peace.
The special effects in here were not really special. Despite the fact that this movie came in 2010, nobody who had been attacked with fire actually looked like he/she was burned. Ice just looked like plastic.
Can I give this movie any redeeming qualities? None that I can think of. I am sorry to disappoint, but that is my opinion. For those of you who want me to give any kind of rating, I give this movie ½ out of 5 –assuming that fractions and/or decimals are allowed in this rating.

The Last Airbender is the story of Aang - the last of the Air Nomads lost in the ice for 100 years - and his journey to save his world from a war that started while he was frozen. When Aang is discovered by Katara and Sokka , they head out into the world to give the people hope for a future and a way out of the ongoing war.
The world has a few individuals born with the power to control a particular element - fire, earth, water, or air. These people are called "Benders". Each Bender uses martial arts and willpower to direct an element to do their bidding. And Aang is unique as the last Avatar - an individual capable of "bending" water, earth, fire, and water as well as interacting with the Spirit world.
The Fire Nation, led by Fire Lord Ozai , seeks to banish the old peaceful ways of the Nations working together and embrace an industrial world by enslaving or destroying the other nations and forcing his vision of the future upon them. His son, Prince Zuko , seeks to regain the honor lost as a child. If he could find the Avatar and return him to his father, his honor would be restored...So as Aang comes to grips with the changes while he was gone and his being the Avatar, he's being chased by the Fire Nation at every turn. Eventually Aang, Katara, and Sokka find their way to the Northern Water Tribe so that Aang can learn how to waterbend.

Overall, I think the movie was decent...could've been better....could've been worse. I'm content and pleased with the movie and can't wait for the second movie of the series.

I think the movie was done well, and that's from the point of someone who's never watched the cartoon.
I'm sure they changed the plot of the cartoon around and I'm sure there were large parts of the series missing, but people have to realize that making a movie out of a series or even novels means that a number of things will be left out.
A typical movie will run from one and a half to two hours, with movies stretching it at three to four hours. You can't include every bit from a series and expect people not to die watching the movie.
I liked the bending effects. I liked the acting and the plot. I will be watching the sequel when it comes out.

In my own oppion there was no last air bender movie!
That was one of the worse movies i have ever seen, the acting is horific! The sceen with the earth benders, in the jail, theres a group of people doing something and this one tiny small rock going like 1 mile perhour rolls by... They got the names wrong its Aang Not Aong... and the fact fire benders need a some sort of source? im sorry but thats not right! The sun is their source!! If your a diehard avatar the last air bender Cartoon fan, you are NOT going to like this movie...

The cartoon on the other hand, is fantastic! the humor in it is just right, theres not too much and not too little. viewers get attached to the charaters and say if something bad happens to them they will feel bad as well. Theres enough suspence, the action is good! theres just no bad things about it, except the fact that they didnt continue making them !
Why couldnt M.Night Shamalamadingdong go off of the cartoon, OH AND HA! Get this his OWN SON, is a huge die hard last aribender cartoon fan, what a disapointment...
