7 was the best to most of us because it was the first in 3D. It was also a first in gaming experiences for people that had not experienced a final fantasy game before. There was awesome marketing for the game too, I even had a playable demo before it was released. Needless to say I pre-ordered it and got it the day it came out along with a t-shirt that is long gone now...too many holes.

i think 7 is over rated, it's not that great in comparison to the others. i am assuming it was the first RPG most of you played through?
thats because it's actually one of the easiest rpg's. also the story is ok, not spectacular like the others. the battle system is pretty lame when you think of other games prior to ff7, (such as ff5 or ff6)

most people like ff7 the most because it has a special nastalgia in their hearts for being the first rpg they played, first rpg they remembered, or the first rpg they beat through.

truth be told if you look past that it's not that great.

Why didn't ff7 sell as much in japan as it did in the america's? why is ff7 advent children not very popular in japan in comparison to america's? simple it's not the greatest game in the world

durdadan, before others spam and flame you I just wanted to say I agree with you totally about FF7.
I have posted similar things before, but unfotunatly soon afterwards theres normally a bunch of leet speak or ranting by FF7 fanatics so I thought I'd just say this before it happens here

Personally I'm not really a FF fan more then I'm a RPG fan, but my favorite FF's would probally be 8 and 9 (I like the card game heaps).
But I havn't really thought about favorites much quite frankly.

before people flame me, let me say, ff7 was a good game, but by no means was it the best.
the ratings were 9's and 9.5's for the most part and i agree with that, but i think that ff9 gets a 10/10 mainly because the fantastic story, the speed of progression, the characters, the world, the minigames, the menu/magic/skill system, and because believe it or not it was the first true sequal to a prior final fantasy game, (ff1, notice that garland was in both games?) although the sequal aspect was kinda abscure, it was evident. and i think they did a great thing by bringing ff back to the past, the futuristic ff ideas in 7 and more so in 8 dind't fly to well with me.

and best of all in ff9 was the integration to make zidane the main character, he just kinda stumbled into the role. while the others like stiener for example wasn't down with saving the world for a long time he just wanted to get ziddy.

unlike other rpgs (7 for example) the role of main character was only his and the world could not have been saved by anyone else.

in ff9 i feel that if i were there or you, seems anyone could have fallen into that story and saved the world.

I picked FF7 because I like it quite a lot on what happened to cloud and sephiroth. I like Sephiroth he beats all the FF villans.

I say FF6. I think it is the best. I found it alot better then the other FF games. And it also the one which have the one and only Kefka in it XD

Final Fantasy 7 was the best one ever. I played and beat that game so many times. I liked the different colored Chocobo thing. ;D

I find Final Fantasy IV better than the others (except Final Fantasy 6 ). He have a lot's of great things in it, his scenario first.

I think a lot's of persons stopped when they saw the drawings, but they shouldn't pray attention to that first.

FFIX has been the first FF game I ever played,and its pretty awesome. I mean,come on,a monkey tailed boy for a main character? Pretty cool. Don't know why nobody voted for FFII,its pretty cool.

I think ff8 is the best. it was my first one and all the music fit it perfectly. even though i have been a final fantasy fan my whole life, i've yet to play seven, so im not entirely sure if ff8 is best.

Actually, it sort of isnt fair to lump FFX with FFX-2 either, but the poll options are the poll options, so thats how they stay for now.

i really liked 10. it took awhile to beat but it was the most fun and had a sequel

My Fave Final Fantasy would Have to be Crisis Core : Final Fantasy VII - the game story taking place before the events of the original playstation version's game story for the graphics , Voice Acting and CGI Gameplay and cinematics

My choice of my fave Final Fantasy Game would have to be Crisis Core : Final Fantasy VII (PSP) Hands Down for the reasons listed above
