Here's my experience from a few minutes of playing:



This is before I do anything.



This is what happened after I walked up to the arrow and pressed the Right C button.



After going up that elevator that I had opened, I found the blue key. I'm standing in front of a blue door with a blue key now (as you can see).



When I pressed the Right C button, the door opened. I took the screenshot while it was opening.


Based on all of that, I am certain that the Right C button allows you to open doors. You can check which key the Right C button was assigned to by double clicking on the game's screen. The menu that pops up will also allow you to reconfigure the controls to whatever you prefer.

I hope this helps.
