The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming out in November this year; thats over 4 years after TES IV. Does anyone here think that this game will be worth the wait? I do, mostly because IV was pretty dang good, and this game should be much better, 4 years in the making.

My first thoughts were that it was gonna be more of the same as Oblivion and that it was just a way to get more money out of the series. I received an issue of Game Informer via a subscription a few days ago and Skyrim was the main topic of the magazine, and that changed my opinion greatly. I never could get into Oblivion much because it had already been out for a few years when I bought it, but Skyrim definitely looks like something I can get into (and maybe I can get into Oblivion now as a way of preparing for it haha).

It better be worth the wait. I plan to get it when it comes. Are there any previews available?

UPDATE: Found a video on youtube shows screenshots of it and some awesome info about it! may or may not be fake, but all i know is the pictures are really awesome.

I just saw the official gameplay trailer for it and boy oh boy does it look freaking schweet! There is some good stuff on it at IGN's website if you want to know more. But right now I'm doing some research on it and I'll post all the information I can get my hands on.

Info known as of 2/24/11
- Takes place 200 years after the Oblivion crisis and in Skyrim which is north of Cyrodiil (where Oblivion took place).
- You play as the last "Dovahkiin" or "Dragonborne" -- the hero who is placed with the task of rescuing Skyrim from Alduin, the Nordic "god of destruction" who takes the form of a dragon.
- Skyrim has erupted into a civil war as a result of the assassination of its King.
- Varying scenery and environments. (not always green forests as it was in Oblivion)
- Of course new weapons and armors
- ~Dragons~
- Character models have been improved.
- New menu interface.
- Dual wield a staff and a sword!
- Better combat. (looks better)
- Assassinations (?)
- Finishers
- Beautiful environmental effects (snow falling, rivers flowing, etc.)
- Varying town looks (from normal towns to ruins to mountain towns to coastal farmlands)
- Spells look more detailed
- NPCs look much more detailed than in Oblivion
- You can smith your own custom weapons
- New "perk" system similar to the Fallout games
- Dragons can attack cities at random (unscripted)
- New "dragon shout" ability as being a "Dragonborne"... More on that later.

look at how big of a jump was made from Morrowind to Oblivion, and you have your answer. I just hope it has a longer storyline than Oblivion did. Im excited to see what new armor and weapon designes they come out with.

Oh hell yes it is! Oblivion was so great, and this one is utilizing a brand new engine. That means better animations, less glitches (if you've played Oblivion, you'll know), and better textures. Haha I can't get over their music. It's just fantastic!

iGame : Bethesda DOES have really good taste in music...don't believe me? Look up Fallout 3 on youtube; there's about a 90% chance the first video you click has a perfect example of it.

P.S. The music really only gets to you if you've played through fallout 3. Imagine running around in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, with robots, lasers and radiation all over the place, for about 14 hours (only going through the main quest with no add-ons, of course) while listening to that kind of music...you get addicted to it. Fallout 3 made me want to buy the Ink Spots album off itunes.

"is it worth the wait" i hope that is a rhetorical question cause after 4 long years at last the 5th elder scrolls is out it will be the GAME OF THE YEAR no doubt as when it comes to rpgs even final fantasy comes short compared to the elder scrolls im sure me and many other people would wait till the end of time if it meant a new elder scrolls game

zmasta : Well, it's probably mostly the ability to do whatever you want, And the ability to roleplay as someone other than "The epic hero who will cast down the evil and bring righteousness back to the world"...or something like that. Maybe your a local shop owner who got caught up with the story while out on a walk, or maybe your a theif, forced to live on the streets until you hear a rumor about a "big reward" to whoever does whatever the story requires you to do.
