My first encounter with Chrono Trigger: When I was 11, I originally got wind of the game from Gamepro Magazine (they had a walkthrough in one issue from the start up until the battle with Magus), but I wasn't really that interested. I saw Akira Toriyama's concept art of Marle though, along with her sprite, and thought she was hot. A few months later, I was at Blockbuster looking for something to rent, and the game I had in mind was out of stock. I scanned the shelves and found Chrono Trigger, and remembered seeing the art of Marle. So I rented the game. Yup, I got into Chrono Trigger because Marle was hot! I quickly found a new interest, though... Schala. Don't know what it was about her, because I'm not really attracted to unnatural hair colors... Must have been the bells in her music... I guess they...cast a spell that makes you fall in love with the next thing you see.

Anyway, I was your typical Chrono fan after that, and have always had *VERY* specific ideas of what I would do if I had been in the creative driver's seat designing Chrono Trigger. That's pretty much what got me started writing, which I've been doing ever since and am STILL working on my first book. (It's huge.) The numerous endings also had a part to play in driving my creativity and imagination. In that way, Chrono Trigger gave something to me and so now I'd like to give something back.

I know all that is too long to use, but it at least gives you the idea and you can take a few quotes from it if you like.

About Nathan: BAD news. His freaking system crashed. Don't even ask about completion dates. That subject is off the table. Please don't roast him... But also, he lost his address book too. So Stoney, if you'd just send him a quick email so he can get your email address again... I know he'd appreciate it. Which reminds me...he told me to do the same thing. I'm gonna go email him.

I'll use your age, and maybe make fun of you for getting into the game because you thought Marle was hot. This isn't an interview, the readers wont be curious about the life stories of the staff (no offense Jake). The purpose of the article is to keep the readers interested through all the information about our petition. If we do that, we'll get people visiting. If we bore them, they'll move on to another article and may never visit our site.

Yeah, I can host the Chrono Symphonic's site. Also, I can make sub-domains, maybe make somethin like www.ctrforum.vizzed.com which would direct a person right to the remake forum, might be easier to type that out rather than that other url.

...You know Jake, I can't really say I'm surprised by what interested you in CT. That sounds like something I could expect from you.

Hehe... don't mind being too blunt in your criticism, eh Stoney? If I had to make one criticism, it would be that it is too long. What I did when writing my article was pretty much just look over other slashdot articles... and then attempted to match the format as best I could. Anyway, I don't really mind if Stoney's article is used, so feel free to play around with that one if you want Props.

I've decided to merge the two. Stoney's is too long. Also, I told Joystiq what we're up to, they might contact me about writing an article for them.

EDIT: Ok, Joystiq acted faster than I thought, and mentioned us in an article about the late remake project.

And Apoc...ya got me. I like FFX and FFX-2 (although against your expectations I *HATE* Tomb Raider), and perhaps even rivaling with Chrono Trigger, I absolutely love, love, LOVE Metroid. Now if only they'd do one of the 3D ones in 3rd-person. But alas, it looks like Prime 3 will also be first-person. Still, I'm sure it'll be great, being on Revolution and all.

Her body is covered in opaque, environmentally resistant metal that arm cannon blasts barely phase. How would third person view be any more exciting for you?

Oh by the way, I was thinking and we might want to hold off on the Slashdot article for a little while, maybe just till we get a couple hundred signatures. I'm afraid that, even if everyone who reads the article looks at the site, if they don't see any signatures recorded they'll think it's a lost cause and we'll lose potential signatures we may have been able to get later. I think if they visit the site and see that things are going well, however, they'll be more likely to contribute.

I can see your point, but I don't know how easy a couple hundred will be easy to get. We'll just have to see how it goes I think. Great mention in Joystiq though.

EDIT: You know what we should've done? We should've placed a counter on the site that logs how many people have visited it. That would greatly boost the morale of anyone visiting it (if the number is high), and it would tell us how successful we're being at getting the word out about the site. *smacks forehead*

Metroid... I didn't say I wanted it in 3rd person for "excitement," as you put it. I just like 3rd person games so that it doesn't feel like an FPS. In 3rd person, you can quickly whip around to point behind you, while in 1st person, you have to TURN.......and if something snuck up behind you and you're TURNING to shoot at it, you're getting owned in that half-second of turning.

Plus, I'm not even talking about the girl in the suit... The suit itself is just too pretty not to see!

Good news: Physical signatures will carry more weight of influence. Physical print-outs also encourage group signing, while e-signing depends on internet-surfing habits, which is a very individual thing.

OK Stoney, that paragraph is ok with me. I edited your post though, making one tiny change. Just replaced "that" with "Chrono Trigger" on the sentence about what got me started writing.

Stoney, it doesn't seem like you've been paying attention. We don't want the article any longer. We want it shorter. We don't want more quotes from Jake, if any. We want to keep the reader's interest in the petition, not in Jake. It's persuasive writing. I had to do it several times with fundraising post-Katrina. We need to keep the article short and saturated with information about the petition that applies to the readers. If we put in too much unnecessary information, about Jake for example, the readers will get off course thinking about what got them into Chrono Trigger... then before they know it they're at the end of the article, and haven't taken anything out of it. In writing like this you want to lead the reader to an end, not just entertain them.

I'll take care of it when I get some time. Wont be too long, finals are just a few more days. I appreciate the help though.

LOL, Prop. I know we're trying to make the article shorter. You can go ahead and leave all the quotes out if you want. I just put the extra ones in because A. It would satisfy Jake and get him to let me use the funny quote, and B. I know that you're going to come along and shorten everything anyway, so it doesn't really matter what I do to the article at this point. I just figured that the quote about Jake getting into Chrono Trigger because he thought Marle was hot is funny enough to get the attention of readers and keep them interested, so I wanted to try having it in the article somehow.

It's up to you guys on what to do. I have the address to the petition in my IGN signature, I am only posting on the DS board right now though.
