I've only played VII. I hear a lot about VII being so overrated and all this stuff because of the boom of RPG's around that time. The game I hear that is the best of the series is either VI or VIII. What do you guys think?

Personally I like a lot of Final Fantasy games, but my favorite would be VIII with VII and III close behind. I really thought that they were almost the perfect game with an awesome, engaging storyline.

I like III the most. (not Terra... stupid america...) You have a lot of variety in jobs, and you can edit your party depending on the jobs YOU like the most. Not just ones others decide. Onion knight/kid is also really cool to have at lv 99 with his 99 stats and ultimate equipment... anyways, its just a cool game over all. And yes, my least favorite game is VII. Not that its a bad one, I'm just tired of all the fan boys saying: "7 Is the best one ever!!!" and ruining it for everybody by making them tired of it with your constant bragging of work that's not yours.

Beyond that, the actual plot and characters resonated with an audience accustomed to one-dimensional heroes and villains, and though the dialog and situations are sometimes overly dramatic, they inspired the very template that countless RPGs have followed for years. FFVII may have brought RPGs to the mainstream, but IV (along with Sega’s Phantasy Star II) pulled them of the dungeon-crawling muck and redefined what the genre could be.

Final Fantasy 7 was a really good game. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it, but I wouldn't say it's the best. My favorite is Final Fantasy 9, the most underrated of all of the Final Fantasy games. The story is creative, the characters all get interesting qualities and back stories. It's just an all around awesome game. I would recommend it to anyone.

Omg what a tough question.   I'll just say, I love everything with the title "Final Fantasy" on it!  With FF 1 being the mother of them all, I do love that one.  But then what about FF9?  Kuja is just too adorable, and dont even mention Zidane... the story is just lovely.  But I think he most complex storyline of them all would be FF12...which, alot of people seem to hate for some reason. I think its because they just dont understand it?  But anyway, that world of FF12 is extravagant!  The creatures' look, the character design...its just all...beautiful.

It's a tough decision as I love all Final Fantasy games but in my opinion it's a tie between FFVI and FFIX, they were my favourite.

The awkward moment when nobody likes Final Fantasy 7 because it's over- hyped.... which is a rubbish reason... it's like the hipster answer to not liking it.... I personally don't care about how much a game is hyped.... I mean I'm the one playing it after all. 

So anyways my favourite 3 Final fantasy's are 

1. FF6- Amazing soundtrack and the first final fantasy that I actually completed

2. FF7- It has a great story and in my opinion is easily in the top Final fantasy's

3. FF12- Everything about this game is awesome... well if you take out Vaan anyways

Oh before I forget.. FF9 seems to be the "under-rated" one apparantly...Literally 50% of the people I know always say this is the best.... Damn human nature lol
