Just to contrast with the worst game endings thread. I know there aren't a lot of game endings that are good but there are some.

There are so many great video game endings. One that I can think of off the top of my head is the ending for Ninja Gaiden on the NES.

The classic Ninja Gaiden game had to have a classic ending. After all, you were fighting to find and save your father. This was not going to be any mediocre ending. Unfortunately for Ryu, he would not be able to save his father as his destiny was too tied to the “Demon Statue” as the Demon world was exploding before both of their eyes. Like a true hero, Ryu’s father tells his son to “save the girl and escape with his own life”. Ryu has become a man and no longer needs the assistance of his soon to be missed father. Besides this touching scene between father and son comes some “behind closed door” scenes between Irene and Ryu involving some kissing, and…well that’s it for an 80′s 8-bit ending! Ryu and Irene watch the perfect sunset go down as the gamer unwinds in what was one of the most difficult games for the 8-bit era. With a great story to the ending and one of the most aesthetically pleasing sunsets in gaming history

Hmm. Sonic Adventure 2's ending was very sad, but it was really good.

After using the power of Chaos Control to save Earth from the Ark, you see Sonic return to it, while Shadow just falls to Earth and vanishes in a twinkle. Then, the characters of the game (like Eggman and Tails - Knuckles and Rouge) discuss their true feelings to previous events while very sad music. It ends with Sonic saying "Sayanora, Shadow....the Hedgehog."

One of the most touching endings to a video game in my opinion.

I loved Metal Gear Solid 4's. It's so in depth and well thought out, and it brings the entire series together. An amazing end to an amazing series. Seriously. That was probably the best ending I have ever seen.

I really enjoyed the ending to Lufia 2:

In their final battle with the evil Sinistrals, hero Maxim and his wife Selin sacrifice themselves to save their hometown and their infant child. During the ending, their spirits travel the world seeing their impact on their friends and their son. Compared to modern endings, it’s sappy and unsophisticated, but at the time it was poignant and remarkable.

I like the ending of Metal gear solid 2 sons of libirty Raidian goes and tries to find his real life in the world.

The ending for Ocarina of Time was fun to watch and the beginning of it set the foundations for Wind Waker.
