Like all other genres of music (except rap ) there's some good rock music...and completely crappy ones. Bands such as Linkin Park, Manson, System of a Down, Korn etcetera, is modern rock.

And the older rock bands I like are Nirvana, Prince, The Beatles, The Cure, The Police.

For anyone interested, here's a great song from a great band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilcD1fHcGB0 If you haven't heard of them, they are the Talking Heads, one of the pioneers of alternative rock. Their fusion of rock, techno, African-influenced polyrhythms was unheard of back in 1980. Their album Remain in Light is one of my favourites

I'm tending to listen to more of the "softer" stuff than just out and out loud noise lately. Has anyone heard of A Perfect Circle? They kick ass seriously. I love to listen to The Package from APCs Thirteenth Step cd.
