They say walking with bare feet is good for your health and you can run long distance much further than you would in trainers and the shock absorbing technology in trainers does your ligaments damage.

I have not tried it except on the beach, but would love to, but what are your expereinces first to help me make my mind up.

Well, yeah, I've tried it, and let me tell you:

IT HURTS. I don't really care if it helps your feet or whatever, but the ground is hard, and there are many sharp things to step on.

Plus, you'd look kinda funny going barefoot.

I do occasionally. I like socks, but, I'm not too fond of wearing shoes (especially once I go inside somewhere). I'd like to walk barefoot more and get calluses like gameface138 lol. But seriously, those things help your feet; makes them thicker and less susceptible to nature. However, hookworms and stepping on glass/blood/poop are scary.

Yeah Totts, you're semi-right. It's not exactly "healthy per say, but the thing about shock absorption and everything else is spot on. I've tried avoiding it though to also avoid the hispanic stereotype (since I'm hispanic). I guess nudists, naturalists, and hippies do it too.

Totts : Yes I have walked down a street barefoot and I wouldn't recommend it, especially in a filthy surrounding.
It'll make your feet dirty and can possibly cause blisters that can be painful! On the beach it's alright and somewhat comfortable, but every now and then you happen to step on something sharp or hard...I hate that.

No I wear my boots I feel its disrespectful to people who have no shoes to mock them

I actually enjoy my boots a lot they work great. Plus you don't want to step on something like a rusted nail or it will get infected.

I walk barefoot all the time. If I could go through everyday life barefoot I'd do it. I grew up next to a gravel road, so my feet are extremely tough. I can walk on rocks and not feel a thing on my feet. I even stepped on a piece of glass once and it barely pierced one of my callouses. I absolutely refuse to EVER get a pedicure because they'll take my callouses away and I like having tough feet.

I used to when I was little but I stopped once I stubbed my toe on a curb. Now I really just wouldn't because of all the stuff you can step on and, like NotJon said, you can pick up hookworms that way. I watch that 'Monsters Inside Me' show and it makes me not want to do a lot of things lol.
