It won't let me vote ... but, FF7 is the shiznit. Best villain, best storyline, best characters. Cloud is my all time favorite dark-hero (dark as in his only problem isn't which sword to equip).
FF8 is my very, very close second.

I have to vote for FFVII to, its my alltime favourite, best of everything. Creative and powerful, draws you right into the action

As in he had internal problems and struggles (with Sepheroth etc.) and Wasn't a sissy goody two shoes like most other heroes in the Final Fantasy series (except maybe FF6m and I mean before FF7).
A lot of the new generation games use 'dark heroes' instead of the 'cliche hero'.

It's playstation 2 unfortunately it was only relaesd in about 10000 copies. Finding it now would be hard. But it's an insanely good game. And i have seen people take so much damage the numbers didn't fit onto the screen.
