SamB : I love Hulu. It seems more and more that I watch more current TV on Hulu then I watch on my satellite dish. One thing that I wish Hulu had was an agreement with CBS because I am a big Blue Bloods and Two and a Half Men fan but I assume that will come in time. At least Netflix recently started streaming Everybody loves Raymond. I honestly forgot how funny that show was. I’m still waiting for my Netgear player to update it’s Netflix app and still waiting for them to get with Amazon. If Roku had VuDu I would buy a Roku player. My Netgear player isn’t bad or anything but I’d like a player where I have access to all my services all in one place that isn’t my PS3.

My PS3 has been sort of on and off lately due to a problem with a firmware update a few weeks ago. I really hope I don’t end up having to replace my console again as I was without a PS3 when my Phat model got the YLOD for six months up until two years ago. I did get a look at the new PS3 Super Slim model today. It looks very sleek but I think they need to fix all the glitches and make sure their permanently fixed before they even think of releasing PS4. They have the responsibility to the consumer to make sure the product is solid and will remain solid. Least that’s the way I feel about it.

Jordanv78 : Yes Hulu is great for catching up on shows. I don’t cook but I really got into Gordon Ramsey’s shows. Hulu has them all and it’s great for down days. I know Hulu is technically owned by NBC, Fox and ABC but I wish they’d get some CBS shows on there. I’d like to see either Netflix or Hulu get NYPD Blue. Amazon has it but Amazon doesn’t have an auto play feature and as I’ve said my streaming player doesn’t have Amazon.

haitamchouiekh : On down days I pretty much go between Netflix VuDu and Hulu. I get a healthy mix of movies on all three but what annoys me sometimes is when I buy a movie on VuDu I will often see the movie pop up on Netflix in a month or two. It doesn’t matter if it’s a new movie or a movie from years ago. I don’t know if it’s simply osmosis or what but it’s just one of those little things that can annoy you. Netflix has done a good job lately since they get out of their agreement with Starz of getting newer movies more quickly. Should be interesting when they get the rights to the DreamWorks movies next year.

Surprisingly, yes. I don't watch television to save my life on a TV.. but I will sit down and watch various TV shows on my computer. Some of them would be The Big Bang Theory, My Little Pony, and Supernatural. We have Netflix, so... the latter two, I was on Netflix. The first one (TBBT), I torrented.

I watch a lot of TV online.  I watch YouTube mostly on my phone, if you consider that TV, and hulu on well, a computer.  I also watch Netflix on my phone and Wii.  I watch reality television on my actual TV though, so I can record it and re watch it.  Weird right?

Ktanaqui : I assume that it won’t be too long before The Big Bang Theory is on Netflix. I’ve basically gotten into a habit of waiting for new shows with the exception of Blue Bloods and Two and a half men to show up on the streaming services. Like I said before I assume that all these shows will come to Netflix one way or another in time.

Far as watching stuff via computer I really only do that if I am covering a fight card that is taking place outside of the US that I wouldn’t otherwise have access to. It’s good for what it is but for someone with a bad back it’s not the easiest thing in the world. I have started looking at the Roku streaming player as it has all four of the streaming services I use plus more channels of an international flavor. I haven’t decided whether I am going to buy Roku yet but if it makes my job a little easier where I can watch cards that aren’t available in the US on my flat screen instead of my computer or my laptop it will make things much easier for me.

Mobouis1 : Anime counts… I just wish that the Simpsons were on Netflix or Hulu Plus. I am into most of the Fox Anime sitcoms and have always been but beyond buying a digital copy of The Simpsons movie on Vudu it’s not really available online unless you’re sitting at a computer and as I’ve said for me it can be difficult at times. Hopefully one day they’ll make it available on the streaming services.

mr.keys : If memory serves me Naruto is on Netflix but don’t quote me on that to be honest I glance at their Anime section but I never really go too deep into their anime section. I do believe I’ve seen Naruto on it before though. To be honest for $8 a month for Netflix and $8 a month for Hulu Plus is a great value. I have covered combat sports most of my life but I am almost convinced that if I was pressed I probably could write a blog on streaming services and the good and bad and such. Perhaps it’s something I should think about if I ever decide to broaden my horizons a bit. If I can make money doing something like that I would definitely consider it.

shawnfawn : I myself watch a lot of YouTube on my streaming player. It’s good minus the fact that I have to put in an activation code every time I want to use the app thanks to a firmware glitch the last time my player did an update. This is one reason why I was looking at the Roku player but I am unsure if it has a YouTube app. Hopefully it does… As far as reality TV I use to watch a lot of the VH1 shows. I don’t really cook but for whatever reason I’ve gotten into watching Gordon Ramsey’s shows. I guess the appeal there isn’t really the cooking it’s watching him flip out and go crazy. I still think of all his shows the best would be if they put him in the scenario of running a daycare center filled with children experiencing the terrible two’s I think if they called it “Hell’s Daycare” it might work considering they got Hell’s Kitchen and Hotel Hell now. Hopefully Fox will find me and pay me for that idea. I could certainly use the money.

bvd1022 : Well, there's one error to that thinking. Certain channels - like HBO - refuse to allow their programs on streaming services.

SuperGameBoy1 : I love YouTube… Besides the nostalgic benefits of like watching music videos and movie clips and such I have used YouTube for research while preparing my material. It’s good for international cards for instance when I cannot find a live stream of a card there is always a chance that at minimum I’ll come across the main event of that card on YouTube a few days later. I like that I can access YouTube on my media player but unfortunately my media player’s app for YouTube had a glitch when doing a firmware update a while back. So until my media player does another update I have to enter an activation code every time I want to access my YouTube account. It’s a little annoying but it’s still a good benefit seeing as I’ve been having computer problems for a couple of months now and have not been able to do my writing and such. At least it gives me something to do while waiting to get my computer fixed. Hopefully the Roku streaming player has a YouTube app so that I will have a back up for YouTube in the meantime.

As far as not watching TV on a gaming console well, in the case of the PS3 their Netflix app is actually better than the one my media player has. It’s good when you don’t have a media player but I prefer media players for the sole reason that it is quieter and doesn’t have a fan that makes periodic noise. I just wish that my media player’s Netflix app had the auto play feature that the updated Netflix app has both on the PS3 and on Netflix’s site. Hopefully Roku will have a more updated app. Least I hope so.

Ktanaqui : Well in the case of HBO, HBO actually has their own streaming service called HBO Go and their sister channel Cinnemax has an app called Max Go. Both if I’m not mistaken are on the Roku player. As long as you get either via your cable or satellite provider you’ll be able to use both apps. Right now the only thing preventing me from getting a Roku is I really need to get my computer fixed so I can resume my writing duties. It’s been a few months since I’ve been able to write anything and was actually covering the Olympics when I ran into the problem. It’s frustrating when you can’t take care of something that really needs to be done right away because other bills take higher priority but unfortunately those are the shoes that I have been in. In regard to HBO Go I actually used the service via my satellite provider. It wasn’t bad but it was relatively new at the time. They probably have more content on both their services now.

Netflix actually has all of George Carlin’s HBO stand up specials but I think the reason is because Carlin’s stand up specials were produced by CableStuff productions and likely they have a different deal other than HBO for DVD distribution. I am by no ways complaining because George Carlin was my idol and I actually modeled my writing style after him so I certainly enjoy having access to all of his specials on demand as well as having them on DVD. It’s a good alternative when I don’t want to get up and get a disc.

pokemonfangirl : Streaming services or live online streaming is definitely a good way to get caught up on shows. As I’ve said I find myself actually using Hulu more now to get caught up on shows that I either don’t have room to put on my DVR or simply missed. I think the main appeal is that it’s on demand and you can get caught up any time you wish. For someone who is busy week to week when things are normal it’s beneficial but I do not think nor do I expect for streaming services to become the norm over cable, satellite or disc media. It is good to have streaming services as an alternative if you’re fortunate enough to be able to afford all the above at the same time in this economy. In my case it certainly hasn’t been easy at times but I’ve managed.

mr.keys : Yes I can relate to what you’re saying. I grew up watching a lot of karate movies and some that weren’t filmed in the US or voice recorded in English. Some of the older Jackie Chan movies were difficult for me to follow sometimes because I read slow but they were still enjoyable for the pure action of those films. It’s been a real long time since I’ve watched a movie strictly in subtitles so I’m with you there.

Xiledx : I briefly got into Futurarama when it first came out on television but I for whatever reason didn’t keep up with it. I probably assumed that it got canceled back then but it’s difficult for me to remember in all truth and honesty. Other than for Fox anime shows I never really got into anime but I was always big into Alvin and the chipmunks and Tom and Jerry when I was a kid. In regard to Pokemon I never really got into that either but it’s hard for me to remember the time that Pokemon came out. I do know that my nephews were into it heavily but I never really got the chance to ask them what all the fuss was about. I’m not sure of Pokemon is on Netflix but maybe one day I’ll see for myself.

I’m not sure of Pokemon is on Netflix but maybe one day I’ll see for myself.

bvd1022 :

The cable service that I have does not currently support HBO Go. I wish it did because there are a few TV shows that would like to watch that are from HBO. But, I don't watch the television because we have two TVs and three people that like to fight over them. So, my mom and I just stay on our laptops.

Ktanaqui : I know that feeling. I have sisters and I am the lone boy. I remember what it was like fighting with them when we wanted to watch different things. The good thing is back then in the 80's we really had only two TV’s so we’d often go back and forth in the living room etc. More often than not though we ended up watching whatever our parents wanted to watch 80% of the time.

Far as cable, I can relate to that the only thing I use cable for now is for internet and phone but if I have it my way I will never seek cable for television again. I have had a satellite dish for nine years and it’s superior both in regard to picture quality and in regard to actual quality of service. In nine years I think they were only out here three times, one to fix wiring and two to exchange dishes when we went HD and to replace a DVR receiver. You can’t really complain about that. Before we finally switched our TV to satellite the repair guys for the cable company were out here so often that we got to know them on first name. Far as their internet and phone service I can’t complain but if someone offered to pay me to go back to their TV service I don’t think there is enough money that would get me to agree to that.

bvd1022 :
Well, as far as service goes - my service is great. We've only had one issue (also a broken wire) in the... eight years that we've been using this service? Otherwise, it was just for upgrading, downgrading, and general hardware replacement. (They gave us, for free as well as installed for free, a new modem and router.) So, I can't complain about the service. However, the siblings and stepfather being possessive is rather annoying.

Well, I saw a show online once, if that counts.... Yourmajestyken showed it to me and I really enjoyed it. It was a group of paranormal experts trying to debunk videos of everyday people who caught something ''paranormal'' on video. forgot the name of the show though, but other than that, I don't watch tv online.
YourMajestyKen : can you tell me the name of that show you presented to me last month?

If Youtube counts... Yes.

I watch some shows that aren't on TV anymore. And stuff of that kind.

Ktanaqui : Well I pretty much keep to my bedroom for the most part but it’s only me and my parents now sharing a house so it’s not too bad but it’s nice having all the stuff you want in one room where you can shut the door and be relatively left alone. I do the majority of my researching and even a little live round by round thoughts on social networks from my room so it’s nice to have sort of a half bedroom, half mini office.

It is definitely easier to concentrate when you have a quiet place to work although I could pretty much work anywhere in my house and be okay for the most part. Far as internet, we just upgraded our cable service when we switched our phone to cable. I have nothing bad to say about their internet or phone service (So far) in fact if I could have afford it I would have upgraded to their best internet service but their TV service was horrible when we had it.

Eddy88 : YouTube definitely counts it’s definitely nostalgia heaven for the most part. I spend much time on YouTube almost on a daily basis for the most part when things are normal. I use YouTube either for research purposes or for looking up old TV shows or music videos. I am heavy into 80’s nostalgia so it’s definitely a great service to kill time.

becerra95 : It counts… Far as the name of the show I can’t help you there but I’d be willing to bet that the show you’re thinking of is probably on Netflix especially if it’s on one of the networks. I know until recently a lot of the A&E shows were on there. Sorry I couldn’t be more of a help there. I do find shows like that interesting when I come across them.

bvd1022 :
Sounds about right. Shoot, I'm getting to where I'm going to go buy a mini-fridge for my room so the only time that I /have/ to leave my room is to go to the bathroom... It's much preferable to the living room and noisemakers. x.x

More on topic, yeah - see, my computer has basically everything that I need. Games, music, TV, movies, writing, colouring... Couldn't get a better "all-in-one" device no way, no how.
