Well, so you see, first things first.
The new Chronicles of Narnia movie partnered with non-profit organization Samaritan's Purse, and specifically with the Operation Christmas Child project, which sends gift-filled shoeboxes to needy children around the world. As a result of that partnership, OCC volunteer leaders received invitations to special pre-screenings of the movie in four locations, with Baltimore being the third. So my family got special tickets because my Mom runs the program at our church. It was cool, because the movie was proceeded by a testimony from one of the first people to receive a shoebox, a woman who, as an eleven-year-old girl in war-torn Bosnia in 1993, received a gift that prevented her from committing suicide: that simple shoebox, with shoes she needed desperately. She was the only one in her area to get shoes.

So, after the testimony... we got to see the movie! It was awesome because not only was it a good movie, but this was of course a once-in-a-lifetime chance! BOOYA!

So yeah, I recommend the movie when it comes out on Friday.

Awesome! Dawn Treader is my favorite book in the whole series, and I've really been looking forward to this movie. It seems you really liked it. Was it pretty faithful to Lewis' novel?

Cyprian : It's fairly faithful, with the usual book-to-film time-cutters (the Lone Islands are cut to the heroes' capture and escape, and the island with the lake that turns things to gold is combined with the Dragon's island), but there is one noticeable change that you should know of if you've already seen the trailers: they add a quest to gather seven powerful swords and lay them on Aslan's Table to vanquish this evil corruption-mist sort of thing (really hard to describe). I, however, think it was integrated nicely and that Lewis would have enjoyed it. I don't think I'm missing anything... but I haven't read the book in a while and my brother lost our copy . But despite a few differences, the main theme, main message, and some of the best sequences are kept.

Man, I love the Narnia books. I haven't gotten the chance to see Dawn Treader, but I'll try to do that (seriously, this rain is pure evil)
