I would like to ask Septembern to place this in a sub forum he likes as this could fit into a few different places...

But onto the subconcious thoughts.

"The actions of our subconscious are the thoughts of our conscious"

We use way more brain power asleep than awake, and we feel no pain at all. Point is, dreams tend to be amazing. They lead us to extraordianary places and help us tap the full potential of our brains.

So wouldn't it be in the best interest in evolution if we made a way to remember these dreams better? We could unlock a lot of our brain's potential this way.

I think when we dream, we use all of our brain, whereas when we're awake we use very little of our brains. This way we open ourselves up to new experiences and all that kind of stuff.

legacyme3 : The concept of dreams is amazing yet complicated to understand. They are a realm where the impossible suddenly becomes possible. The best feature of dreams is the things we find out about ourself in them.

Great thread

I was thinking about putting this under "thoughts", but i'll just put this under "Brain" for now.

If we could untap the potential that dreams can offer then that would be a great step towards the evolution of the modern human being. There is so much we don't understand today about something that has been around for so long, sleep!

[sigh]....

The idea that we only use a certain percentage of our brain is not true. Every part of the brain is in charge of something that goes on. We might not have the ability to consciously control all of what is going on, but would you want to have to put conscious effort into your heart pumping or keeping the hydrochloric acid levels in your stomach at right levels. I'd rather let me brain handle it rather than trying to control it myself.

I usually remember some of my dreams, but for the most part I just either dream about random stuff (very strange things indeed) or I have reoccuring nightmares, so I would prefer if my dreams stayed away and I didn't have any. But on the contrary, I do think it's pretty amazing how our mind percieves things and transorms them when we dream.

Best Keep your concience as clean as you can, or charma will come with a blade in it's hand. It will strike all those who seek to gain without giving, and spare all of those who are weak and forgiving.

I think that you can do the same thing when you are awake (try fading away in your imagination in a quiet place). However, since nothing is going on around you, since things are dark, since you have no worries... your imagination can run rampant.

I love dreams. Usually they're messed up for me... but I'd like to remember them for longer then a day.

I don't really know, I think dreams are just dreams, no special meaning on them. Well, at least I hope not because I can barely remember mine. The last dream I remember I was running from zombies with my dad and a bunch of unknown people. Seriously, no kidding. So I think they are only random images put together, nothing more

I bet you wouldn't believe I used to think that the reason I dreamed is because I thought my eyeballs made a 180 degree rotation and went inside my brain when I fell asleep

I believe dreams are the desire to do something you have been thinking of all day. They put together all your recent thoughts, and put it into a slide show of some sort.

Most of my dreams are just really random but I'm intrigued about dreams, hopefully we learn more about them in the future.

I agree that we use more of our brains when are dreaming than when awake. In a dream we actively create the enviroment around us rather than simply perceiving it. However... while I can only use my own dreams for a reference point, dreams are far less complex than the real world. Yes, a dream seems real when you are in it, but that is because what you look at becomes "more real." It's a bit like an open enviroment video game (Elder Scrolls is a good example), wherein if you are looking at a nearby object it is in focus, but if you look towards the horizon, objects become blurred and less defined, before vanishing into a blank void. Our brains are powerful, but they simply can't produce the massive scale of a real enviroment on their own.

While we sleep, our bodies rest from the events of the day and recharge in order to face the next round of challenges it will face during its waking life. During sleep, our brains produce a fractured, often nonsensical amalgamation of random events and people, otherwise known as dreams. These dreams often provoke powerful reactions of fear or pleasure, as, for all their improbability, they follow reality in such a way as to trick the dreamer into reacting to this fantasy world as if it actually existed. However, although dreaming undeniably is a large and memorable part of one's nightly sleep cycle, scientists have yet to define for certain the biological function of dreams. Some believe dreams are a remnant of our Neanderthal past, when our ancestors used dreams as a sort of training ground for developing appropriate reactions in the life or death struggles they faced every day. Others thinks dreams simply stem from random impulses which produce images from one's daily life with no particular significance. Others believe that dreams serve to "clean out" the emotional stress accumulated during the day. Whatever the hypothesis, it is difficult to prove for certain the purpose of dreams.

YourMajestyKen : I think that is the coolest post that I have seen in a while.

I was just gonna say that I wish that I could remember and interpret the dream that I had during my sleep from Thurday night-Friday morning but now I just feel silly. It seems like when something happens humans have the uncontrollable desire to make sense out of it.
