I had a wonderful day dream the other day, which inspired me to start this thread to see what other people think.

What if... Nintendo and SEGA entered the next gen together....

Just think many people want a Dreamcast 2 and Ninfanboyo's are anticipating a Wii2 at E3 2011 so this would have huge support to start with.

The two biggest names the great innovators coming together as one to make "WiiDream"
a giant killer SEGA would actually put the effort into there game's again because they would have to make console selling games, I almost know Panzer Dragoon Saga 2, Shenmue 3 with Mario and Sonic Galaxy would sell the console alone.

Plus don't forget these two were at war from the eighties into the early nineties so they are both no strangers to competition.

So what do you think?

Sounds like a great Idea. We already have the two biggest names in both companies in several crossover games, with constant references to eachother in their games.We've got fans of both companies crying out for new consoles. Why don't they just unite and have done with it?

It'd be interesting, but my question for you is, why would Nintendo bother? Sonic save Sonic Colors on Wii is in shambles compared to his old greatness.

Shenmue, while I love it is not a system seller. It was a disaster when it came to sales, which is unfortunate. Panzer Dragoon? Eh, never played it, while I'm thinking I would like it, again it's not really a system seller.

It'd be nice to see some other Sega franchises, but it'd be just as easy for Nintendo to approach Sega with an idea and some funding for the game. Additionally Sega was bought out by Sammy I believe a few years back, not sure they would be into putting up the dough to build a new console.

Barebones speed and nonstop insanity as well as challenging platforming was what the series was known for. In giving us back the Sonic that we kow and love,SEGA has inevitably cleared a path. Now that they know which direction they go in,I have no doubt that SEGA will make it's grand comeback. Not just with the Sonic series,but it's games in their entirity. Nintendo WILL bother soon because they will see SEGA getting bigger and bigger untill their back on the top-spot,their blue hedgehog standing on par with their chubby red plumber.

Even then, like I say, currently that's not going to happen. All 3 companies are already working on their next system quite heavily (at least I'd be very surprised if they weren't). Now if Sega is doing well during the middle of next-gen then I can definitely see one of the three approaching them, but currently, I'm not so sure.

Once again I'm thinking it's far more likely we'll see them approach Sega with an exclusivity contract rather than having them work on their next console.

I know Sega isn't nearly as good as they were in the 90's but imagining Nintendo and Sega team up after their heated rivalry in the 90's would be pretty cool to see happen.

That would be cool, but Sega decided not to make consoles anymore in 2001. Besides if the did make a console together, it would probably fail like some of Sega's consoles in the 1990's. Let's hope for the best.
