Sonic's Speed is impossible to really match, unless Shadow uses Chaos Control. Sonic does have his Hyper form, and Shadow doesn't have one.

I will say that shadow is better in my opinion because he doesn't have to expend so much energy like sonic because he has his rocket shoes, Shadow has awesome moves like chaos control, chaos blast, and chaos spear. I like his super form, I also like his unique personality of destructiveness and mercilessness towards anyone he fights. Of course sonic has speed, but Shadow has the skills and good moves to counter it. I have always liked shadow because of this. I think Knuckles would be good against sonic because he would attack and sonic would probably just dodge and run quickly to avoid being hit, but Knuckles would land a solid hit on Sonic and it would hurt him, I think that would be a very interesting fight.
