M.C.Escher, mainly because his work is so vivid and unusual. You can look at one piece five different times and walk away with five different variations on what you (think) you saw! Two hands drawing each other, a staircase that goes no where...then there's the truly remarkable self-portrait he did using a metal sphere. Amazing stuff.

I've always loved Michelangelo mostly because of the Sistine Chapel. The sheer willpower and time he put into that painting makes him one of the greatest artists who ever lived in my opinion.

Leonardo da Vinci was, and still is, known as one of the greatest inventors and thinkers of the Italian Renaissance. He was an architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, and "inventor of genius." He was the prime example of the Renaissance's idea of a "whole and complete person." He especially excelled in science and art, and was always thinking outside of the box. Many of his ideas have been an inspiration for some modern technology.
