I like the Wii. Who doesn't? It is the best console from Nintendo of the 21st century.

SilverMaestro : i can see why you think that i just realized that but i suppose the wii was made for family friendly games the most violent game i can think of at the top of my head right now is super smash bros brawl but thats what i like about the wii and if you think about it not many nintendo consles feature that violent games but i think society needs the wii i like the idea of motion detective remotes it's the first step to virtual reality so i have to say i really like the wii

Yes i like the Wii but most people did not like the family orientated games because there was not enough violence in the games that were released. Another reason was that some of the games had controls that where just all out whack and it made some of the games near impossible to play. I would give a few of the games but i can not remember what they are off the top of my head.

LeoTheLion21 : i agree with that just like i did with SilverMaestro there should be more violent games and less kiddie games but family is what i like about the wii theres not enough of that in the world

hackerman : I completely agree, I believe that the world is very non-family oriented. Although the country of america does not believe in the whole family is important thing.

Easily blamed for the Wii's downfall is its basis on "Family Fun" rather than appealing to the passing fads of Teenagers.

Currently, the most popular of the online gaming genres is the FPS, excluding that of the MMORPG Variety.
-The Nintendo Wii (however cutting edge it may be with it's sensory technology) may have seemed to have no competition for its "brand new" idea of interactive gaming.

One of the real reasons why the Wii didn't excel in the ranks of gaming is because of the competition it had to face due to the advancement of technologies know as "Xbox 360" and "PlayStation 3"

I'm not saying that I dislike the Wii, or that I like it for that matter. If there was an option in this poll that was whether or not I was indifferent about it, I would have selected it, but since that's not the case, it's forced me to lean to dislike.

(Considering I'll most likely never pick up a Wii-mote again except to watch Netflix)

shredknives : but thats just the thing call of duty and halo are both action and fighting games as to the wii was family that was what it was made for and thats the kind of thing we need todays society are just looking for violent games don't get me wrong i like halo and kingdom hearts 2 it's just that nintendo is bringing family gaming in and thats the type of gaming we don't have

hackerman : Family Fun used to consist of board games as well as picnicking and sport outings. Family fun is no longer as desirable in the eyes of the gaming youth.

hackerman : I agree on that part too, I love some of the halo games, and kingdom hearts was more of a half violence and half family game. I love the KH series and cant wait for the 3rd one to come out. In basis of the "Family basis" with the Wii most people think that its pointless but the truth of the matter is that most people have lost the basis on what having "Family Time is". The wii is in an effort to bring family's back together in some ways and in others there are just trying to adjust to please everyone so that their sales go up.

One of the reasons the Wii was mostly frowned apon by the hardcore gaming society is that third parties never really took it seriously. Sure, the Wii has been home to a lot of great third party titles, some of which couldn't have been done on other consoles until the recent introduction of motion controls on other platforms. Just look at the creation behind Kinect and Move - all due to the success of the Wiimote. However, for quite some time, third parties kept refusing to give Wii their best effort.

Once in a while they would release something of interest to gamers like Zack and Wiki, Boom Blox or the Trauma Center series, but admittedly these are all niche titles that were destined to sell poorly on any system they appeared on. Other times developers decided that Wii owners wanted a never ending supply of rail shooters, based on the great sales of Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. The funny thing about that game was that it was supposed to be a "test", to see if there was an audience for Resident Evil on Wii. The Wii port of Resident Evil 4 sold even better, so what does Capcom do? Release more rail shooters, because they require less effort. Dead Space: Extraction was another severe miss. A lot of Wii owners, myself included, were excited about the prospect of a Dead Space game on Wii, only then to be let down on the fact that it was on-rails.

This is just one reason the the Wii was "un-popular", at least for hardcore gamers. That doesn't mean the Wii get treatment like this all the time from third parties. Games like Monster Hunter Tri, Goldeneye, the Guitar Hero series, Call of Duty series, and many others are finally proving that the Wii can still be one heck of a system.

LeoTheLion21 : but thats many of the reasons i like the wii everytime a new game comes out for ps3 or xbox and stuff like that most of the time it's not kid friendly stuff the reason i like the wii because it gives you a break from all the seriousness in all the other games like shooting and fighting and just have some actual fun

akumajoe : the wii was not always awesome sice it had no violence games it went down hill the wii was meant for family gaming and because of that profits went downhill

akumajoe : I think the Wii is awesome, I am just stating some of the reasons people dont like the wii as much as the PS3 and/or X360 ( I have 3 PS3's 2 X360's and 2 Wii's)

hackerman : I agree with you on the fact that most of the "new" games coming out are not as "kid friendly". The Wii does give you all of the stated. Another fact is that the Wii is adapting to gamers wants and/or needs. They are starting to add FPS games and more fighting based games on the Wii.

hackerman : Yes you do have a point there. Does not change that they are adding more games that have this type of violence. Eventually they will have close to the same amount of blood and gore as the FPS/Fighting games. Hell even some of the RPG games are beginning to add massive amount of un-needed blood and gore.

I don't necessarily like the arm flailing all the time, but one thing you can't say about Nintendo is that they abandoned gameplay for graphics. You also can't say that Nintendo makes faulty products that break all of the time. The Wii also outsold the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Nintendo won this generation of consoles.

The Wii is more popular than either competing console, but the flak it receives gets greater publicity.
