it started freezing last night after i disconnected from the internet.now when i disconnect from the internet every other time i do so it freezes.i have avast free edition and i scand the computer and it said there wasnt any viruses so whats goin on?

yea..but i scanned the file and there was no viruses or anything in it

If it's an MMORPG it may be updating by itself and doing tasks behind your back.

May be useful to some but it may confuse your firewall. What is your OS and what connection speed do you have?

i downloaded age of empires 2 because i lost mine when i moved would that be a MMORPG game?sorry i dont know what that means lol,and i dont know what OS means.my connection speed? its like 100kb a sec thats before ive reached my data limit its pretty slow

its only froze when i try to disconnect from the internet why would it do that?if it was the game i downloaded wouldnt you think it would freeze the computer at different times other than right after i click the disconnect button

your computer just might be updating itself due to the change try deleting the files you may have downloaded recently wait like couple days then try if that doesn't work tell me it could be the files had a virus or the file is to big

I'm not sure what the root problem is because I don't play MMOs. I do know that the reason a computer freezes is because all of the RAM (random access memory) is being used. RAM is what affects the speed of a computer. A computer with more RAM runs faster. A computer with less RAM runs slower. RAM memory is only used temporarily. When a program runs, it uses RAM, but when it is closed, the RAM is restored. If all of the RAM is in use, but more programs try to run, the computer slows down until it freezes. When one of the programs is closed, the RAM it used is freed for use and the computer starts running again.

My general guess is that RAM has something to do with it. The best way to check is this:
1. Open "Task Manager" by pressing "Control"+"Alt"+"Delete"
2. Click the "Processes" tab
3. Click on the "Memory" column title twice to reorder the list.
4. This will display all programs running in the order of how much RAM each one is using. The higher numbers mean it is using more RAM.
5. If you can get the Image Names of the three programs at the top of the list when the computer is frozen. Post them on this forum when you get a chance. This may give an idea of what's going on.
