Hey guys, Its that time of forever. Where tests start to get hard. So, does anyone have any tips for studying. I am sure this could help lots of people. You could also include storys about school and tests. ( I am not sure if this is an okay place to open this thread)

Always, always, always get your work in, complete or not. A 70 is better than a 0. Also, don't cram right before a test, at least go over notes or a text book the night before.

the best way to study is to actually do the work and the reading along with the in class work. I found that I learned better in class if I had read the relevant chapter first and done any pre-class work.

Also, reviewing notes 2-3 times before my test helped. I would just read through them one every hour or 2. I found I retained more if I didn't try and study for multiple hours straight.

Okay this has always worked for me:

If the teacher gives you a study guide, go through it and find the main points. Put them on note cards. Note cards are much more helpful than you would think. But you need to ask specific questions on the note cards. For example (this is from my Theology Class):

Put the question on one side: Who were the sons of Isaac?

And the answer on the other: Jacob and Esau

If the teacher does not give a study guide it will be tougher. Take good notes and do the same thing with the note cards. Find the main points in the notes because more often than not, the main points will be what the teacher puts on the test. It will be harder since you won't know exactly what is on the test, but if the teacher doesn't give a study guide, that's a risk that has to be taken.

You should take some tests to see if you learn best through audio, visuals, or kinesthetics. Then you can change your studying habits to best fit the way you learn. For example I am an auditory learner, so instead of reading a book for school, I listen to an audio book.

Pick a time when no one will bother you (like before bed) and study. If you can, request a study guide from your teacher or take notes during class to study from later. It may help to make yourself a test and then check what you need to study more.

Hope I helped!
