Sony developed a prototype 360-degree autostereoscopic display. It's a little difficult to explain so click the link and watch. It looks like something out of a sci-fi show/movie. Pretty neat.

Cyro Xero : I didn't even know something like that existed. It reminds me of the holograms in starwars.

Damn.... Even if that does hit the market eventually (which it probably will), there's a high chance it'll be crazily overpriced at launch. My guess is that it'll sadly take at least another decade or two to have these babies functioning more casually throughout people's homes. This kinda reminds me of the 3DS too.

it looks as though it jsut has a litte TV that stays infront of your current position. meaning it tracks you and makes the TV position itself for you.

Do you think it will work with 2 people in a room?

I doesn't track you. It's 360, meaning that as you go around it you see the back side of the image. The exact same thing if you were to walk around one of your friends- you would see his face, the side of his head, the back of his head, the other side and then his face again. If only looked like it was tracking because the camera was moving along with the rotation of the image in the video.

that is AWESOME. I loved the 3D block breaker game. I would totally play that. It'll probably be a couple years before we see this in stores but it's a neat concept and could produce some unique content.

Albeit a developing concept, it does look cool. I'm hoping it'll be reasonably priced when (or if) it does come out, and not be a flop like the past has shown for new technologies (Sega CD, Virtual Boy). I would only wish that new technologies would have more time to develop before they are put on the market... but it's inevitable with a fast paced market.

It is a great concept. But I'm not certain it'll do so well if it were to hit the market. Maybe I'm missing thing something, but I can think of many uses beyond an awesome thing to have at a party or even a few clubs. I know people will buy for home uses, but it's not like it'll be a top selling item. That said, I would buy one because I think its cool. It would fun to have it sitting on a coffee table in a living room. Especially with modern-style furniture, which is what I usually buy.

It doesn't look revolutionary as much as it just makes something more economical (I'd assume). First, it would need enough pixels to show the correct image in all directions, then they would need to film the object in multiple directions at once to provide the proper perspective for each angle. It sounds very expensive and aside from the 3d, would have poor picture quality compared to a flat screen. It may have some practical applications, however.
