This article is idiotic. Why is the fact that by and large, all the costumes for women are "sexy" a problem? Um, perhaps because, yet again, women - and only women - are objectified? Honestly, I probably wouldn't care about s***ty Optimus Prime costumes if a s***ty version for men was also offered.

I personally see no problem with it.... women should be allowed to wear what they want as long as they don't break a law .

I think the real problem is that girls have 2 choices in costumes: s***ty, or witch/fairy. Anything else you have to make yourself.

I really don't think that women should wear s***ty costumes. I don't mind when they show off a little bit of skin (), but I've seen some "costumes" where there was almost all skin. It's my opinion.

I have a big problem with womens costumes making them look like porn stars. For one thing, looking like a whore is nothing to be proud of. It just makes women look bad. If women don't like men acting like pigs they shouldn't be giving them reasons reasons to be that way. I have a problem with any costume showing too much skin whether its a man or woman.

I see no problem with it at all. If women want to dress up in a s***ty outfit, that is their decision. I mean, like geeo said there isnt much of an option. And I don't really see how it makes women look bad, actually I think it is a good thing that the women are comfortable enough with themselves to dress that way. You hear stories about women feeling so bad about their bodies that they starve themselves, so I think it's great to see there are women who are happy enough with the way they are to show off their looks.

I wouldn't have a problem with sexy outfits if that was not the only thing you could find in a costume shop for women (and as geeo says, if there were mens outfits to match). Last time I went in one the vast majority of womens outfits were what I'd categorize under sexy outfit (not that I find them sexy ). It's one of the reasons why I'm starting to dislike Halloween more and more.

I tend to agree with geo and Zamiel, people are entitled to choose what they want. I have nothing against sexy outfits, as long as people can choose not to wear them if they don't want to. The main problem is that there are no choices anymore. We can only choose among the sexy, the sexiest and the super-ultra-sexy. So, sometimes I feel my "choices" are dress it and be treated as a pro; don't dress it and be treated as a loser. Not real choices here. And I also don't see many sexy male outfits, which make me feel even worse, like women were nothing but a piece of meat.

Women wear what they want. The thing is, it seems to me they wear sexy costumes because of the attention they get from guys. And as some of us know (and some of you will find out at some point in your lives), most women are "attention whores". While some actually dress in scary or creative things, most will dress sexy. I've seen plenty of pictures and have been to too many parties to deny this.

i think its ok for them to where them, it doesn't mean that if they were "that type" of costume then they are "that type" of person, it could be way far from that ever being the case.
although worried thing someone could have is that a kid going as Super Mario, could end up going as half of Pinocchio

I think this all depends on what the woman is dressing up as. If she's intentionally going for the s***ty look, like with a few obnoxiously short French Maid outfits I've seen, then that's one thing. But say a woman is genuinely dressing up as a character, like the Princess Leah costume in the article or maybe as Sailor Moon, then they're gonna show a lot of skin because the character did. I don't think it's fair to say that all costumes that show a lot of skin are s***ty because not all of them are meant to be. Costumes like 'Sexy Nurse' 'Sexy Cop' and 'French Maid' are made to be s***ty and are derogatory, but the women CHOOSE to wear them so its their own fault if they get called s***ty. That's what they get for choosing to wear something they know is considered s***ty. I don't have a problem with them wearing the costumes but they're risking ridicule doing it.

Although I'm not a big fan of "s***ty costumes", I feel that anyone (and everyone) has a right to wear them.
