So Halloween is coming up soon. What are you planning to do?
Dress up? Stay at home and chill? Party? Trick-or-Treat?

I don't know how many of you are doing this, but my fiancee and I are taking his little sisters trick or treating and we're gonna dress up and ask for candy too. (:"
Hey, we're 17. The fun ends when you're old.
Some people take little cousins, nieces/nefews, sons/daughters, sisters/brothers.
Either way, they make good excuses for candy beggin'. (:
Plus we're probably gonna work in a haunted house the day before.
Gettin' paid $15/hr to scare people. What's better than that?!

So what are you gonna do this Halloween?

Well, my dorm-mate and I are going to dress up as Jules and Vincent (respectively) from Pulp Fiction. We're planning to start a big Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny across campus with everyone battling as their characters. I guess there was a small scale foam-sword battle last year, but we're hoping to make this huge. Which reminds me: I need to get some nerf guns...

Sounds awesome! I'm probably not going to do much for Halloween this year. I might go to a Trunk-or-Treat, but the excitement will probably stop there, thanks to my crazy school schedule. And my addiction to vizzed.

Me and my friend's are going to A halloween pary were all going to dress up we do it evey year and I may take my niece trick or treating house to house before I go to the party

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I seriously CAN NOT WAIT TO DRESS UP AND SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF ALL THE LITTLE TRICK OR TREATERS. LOL. I've been invited to about 5 parties...not sure if i'll go though. I'd rather go trick or treating and getting all the good stuff before it's all gone!! What are you doing for halloween?

As always in our town there is gonna be a party at the school and I have my costume planned........ that's right, PACMAN!

Meh, I'm probably gonna go to the mall and hang out or something like that. Maybe a Halloween party will pop up. Nothing very exciting as of now

What's the story behind Halloween for Americans. I've never really known what it's about and why it's celebrated.
I see that some other countries have started to celebrate it too but I dont see why if it's an American tradition.
Sometimes i get little kids knocking on my door all dressed up and i have to remind myself, ah Haloween. Then I run into the kitchen and try and find something decent to give them so i don't look like a tight arse.

Idk what it is.
I just know that you're supposed to dress up all scary and go door-to-door asking for free candy.

Some people have parties. Some people just like to scare the little kids.
Thing is, it's about scaring.

Golvellius : It's Celtic in roots. They'd light a big bonfire and wear costumes to scare away goblins or something like that. If I remember correctly, I think the goblins would steal food from peoples' houses, which is where Trick or Treat came from. The jack o' lantern story was added later; I think that part started in Germany (maybe?). I'm probably off, but that's essentially the roots of it. Or at least close.

But of course, Americans have commercialized it just like they do every holiday. It's a common trend: Pagan festival Romanized into Christian holiday, Americans commercialize holiday. Although Halloween isn't "Christian", bringing Satan into the mix with the lack o' lantern story... well, it brings Christianity into the mix.

Im gonna take my daughter out trick-or-treating.Shes only two and cant eat most of the candy,but thats ok cause ill eat what she cant have lol.I actually cant wait,i love halloween free candy is awesome!

I think I might even go for a milestone in posts on halloween. We will see.

Me and my brother are going to take our little sister's trick-or-treating around the area. I love seeing how some people go all out in decorating their yards. It's awesome. Then we'll probably just chill and watch a scary movie. Nothing too exciting.

@ StewartofGondor: Wow. I didn't know that; thanks. (: It's nice to learn new things. And yeah we do commercialize a lot of things. Like Christmas; I don't really know the story behind that but Jesus wasn't born on December 25th. I think he was born on Easter's or something.

@ gameface138: Hah you get the advantage of having a little daughter that won't fight you off when you're taking her candy. xD But once she's like 5 she'll be like "No dad, that's my candy. Get your own." I know I did that. :3

@ legacyme3: Get outta Maine and come to Vegas. :3 We can go trick-or-treating together! You can't just miss out on the only day of the year that obligate strangers to give you free candy!!!

@ Fishergirl7: Well that sounds exciting. And if they're small enough just make sure you don't go to the really dressed up houses that scare kids. They might start crying and you'll have to go home. That's happened so many times to me when I took my little sister out trick-or-treating. Luckily she's 11 now and doesn't get scared too easily.
