alexanyways : I guess they are split between Dear Prudence, While my Guitar Gently Weeps, and Revolution. Possibly Revolution 1

Oh come on its not that hard to list... ok maybe it was a little too much to ask for

What music category throughout that time period do you think will live on the longest?

If you could give one decade to a certain type of music, which would be dominant in the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's?

Seems like 80's was great for metal, 90's was great for rap... but what do you think?

Why do people listen to music from Prince?

He did the Super Bowl Half Time show a while ago and I just couldn't stand listening to him.

Almost forgot to answer these today -.- (after a very long time of forgetting to answer )

JigSaw : Probably Rock or/and Pop. They are the best type(s) of music considered by most people, and they are some of the most popular and close to most used, I am sure.
If you meant one for that whole amount of time, I'd go with Rock. Before the 2000's rolled around, Rock, blues, and such like that were the most popular. At around the 90's it started to be less popular as it was though (very unfortunate =/)
Yeah, I'd agree. 80's was pretty much recognizable (entertainment wise) by the Metal music produced during the time. 90's was the time start of the rap invasion. Now all that's around is music with overused swears an box-edged tunes, IMO

pi0x : I'd have to say... 60's: The Beatles.
70's: I'm pretty sure this was when Hall and Oates dominated.
80's Journey, hands down.
90'sim not to sure, within the lines of major music (at the moment), so I will go with (since it was popular amongst now) the music from Sonic games, such as Crush 40 [Sonic Adventure], and other SEGA games.
I will choose a better band for 90's though. That seems more of a lazy answer of mine

septembern : I'm not too sure... One that I thought was great (that can definitely be chosen as best ) is "She's Gone", by Hall and Oates [Released on February 9th (ZOMG THAT'S TOMORROW O.o listening to it all day )]

BNuge : I honestly don't know. Unless those people are secretly deaf or sounding it out

Thebeardedone666 : either Kieidas or Flea. I'm definitely sure it's one of the two, though.

alexanyways : depends on a persons likings. If you like rock from this time, that's the choice, and vice versa. In my opinion, rock wasn't all good this generation. Although if you mean 60's-90's, I'd say Rock

DARKANINE : Trick question, right? he wasn't called "The King" for nothing he was EPIC.

Mattu197 : not sure, I've never heard of them. :|

Just a recap.... Overrated means bad, right? if so, JUSTIN BEIBER. a squirrel (or chipmunk ) could sing 10 times better than him. And deeper

IMO, I say The Beatles. I never got overly into The Rolling Stones, so I cant equally compare them. So The Beatles got a far advantage but either way, The Beatles.

Thank you, everybody, for the wait I had on the answers

chasrad : I'm not too sure what you mean by the "influential" part, wether it was for musicians today, or people today. If for musicians, any bands thathad made Rap and such. Though unfortunate for it's outcome, it was the most influential.

trouble982 : Well, I'm sure tons of people would give different responses due to their personal opinions, but yeah, I agree with "Livin' on a Prayer"

You seem to like Journey a lot. What do you think about the founding members leaving Santana? Carlos Santana has gone on to be just as popular, if not more popular, on his own whilst Journey just isn't that popular anymore.

In response to JigSaw's question about deaths... for the curious, a list of rock and roll deaths from 1950-present can be found here

I would ask you the precise location of John Lennon's death, but you could look that up via the link.

Since you admit to never having heard of Depeche Mode, I am rather curious what 80s and early 90s bands you actually have listened to or heard of.

What are your thoughts on the Electric Light Orchestra (aka ELO)?

chasrad : If you want my opinion, I would say Nirvana. Everyone was influenced by Kurt Cobain's music, his life, and his suicide. Green Day, Weezer, Hole, Smashing Pumpkins and the Offspring also seem to be somewhat influential of the more recent emo movement (especially since Green Day later went more mainstream emo)... though I think the first of the modern emo bands that inspired the rest was My Chemical Romance.
