A series of bomb attacks on London's transport network has killed more than 30 people and injured about 350 others.

There were three explosions on the Underground - which police said left 33 dead - and one on a double-decker bus in which an unknown number died.

UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, who has returned to London from the G8 summit, has described the attack as "barbaric".

An Islamist website has posted a statement - purportedly from al-Qaeda - claiming it was behind the attacks.

This is so sad and pathetic. Gotta love people who like to ruin things for selfish reasons.

Aswell as the loss just experinced London was just givin the green ligh to host the Olympics.... I wonder if that decision will change? I mean, how can they hold an olympics there if they were just attacked by terriosts. In the best intrest of all spectators and competitors it should be moved.

It won't be moved. They stated that yesterday. Now that could change I guess but so far they are still in London. Plus you have to figure they aren't until 2012.

It should be moved? That is as if saying to the terrororists.......

'We are afraid, you may have your way. We will not persevere and we will not stand up. Come in and bomb us anytime you want to change anything. We will be afraid then too'

Heh, London wasn't bombed because the terrorists found out that London was going to host the 2012 Olympics. It had to do with the English being in their country.

Now this London this was bad. I didn't hear about it until later on in the day. I watched the news and hundreds are wounded, and when I checked 37 dead. This is a horrible thing to happen, but that's how it is. That's "war". =/

If more countries joined the Americans in war, would their capitol cities have been bombed too? Only the man in the sky knows. Jerry the pilot.

In AUS they were saying as well as it having to do with the Brits in Iraq or something it also had something to do with the G8 concert.... Any one heard of it? Something about a large concert to stop world hunger....It was called G8 Live. Apparantley Al-quidea wasn't hapy with that.

the concert was Live 8

the G8 summit was happening in scotland, or ireland.... somewhere in the UK at least...

as for the bombing itself... I think it is connected to the troops in Iraq.... makes sense to me

I believe that it was both because of the British in Iraq as well as the G8 summit (which was in Scotland). Probably because they figured doing it during the G8 would have a bigger impact.

I personally was shocked when I heard about it, and I felt so sad for the British people... this just sucks.

yes, yes. And how do we defend? Against and unknown and random attack. Isolate our selves? Close down the boarders? Put a guard tower every quarter mile along our boarders? Scan every american citizen? Interogate them into pieces? These are all unrational ideas. But what else do we do in order to defend? We simply stay on the offense.

I have to agree with john, you cant protect against something if you don't know when, or how to defend against it. Keeping a strong offence against terrorists in Iraq, ECT is the only way. Prehaps even monitor ALL telecomunication to make sure nothing gets in Iraq. Surely the terriosts in America, UK, Aus are recieving orders from somewhere in Iraq.. or another terrorist country. The way to stop the orders is to cut out comunications. Shut down telecomunications of every type. Cellular, Landline, Internet the whole lot.

Do you know how much of a riot that would cause? Shutting down phones and the internet worldwide? You'll have chaos running rampant and no one will care what the reason is. Besides, that would f*** over our side as well.

It is very hard to fight an enemy that is, for all intensive purposes, invisible.

That does not mean they should not be fought. And they can be seen. By the civilians of these countries, and by our intelligence forces. Who do infact help the us out in Iraq. You have to try, and give it your best. It is good in the long run.

This is like Vietnam all over again. When I say that the enemy is invisible, I mean that it is very hard to tell who the enemy is. Not every Muslim is a terrorist, not all terrorists are Muslims or members of Al Quaida(sp?).

I'm not saying "don't fight them", I'm saying it's hard to fight them because you don't know who they are, you don't know where they are, and you don't know how many of them there are.

Wow, okay micheal. This is deffinatly Vietnam all over again[/sarcasm]
What is wrong with you? Vietnam. How could you even compare the two. Its like apples and oranges. Sure they both got sugar and are round. You can put them in a fruit salad. But thats about it. If you would like me to take that serriously. Compare, do compare similarities.

Vietnam was a war that was fought with a near invisible enemy and it lacked the support of most of the nation after a few years of going virtually nowhere. It is the same thing now. We do not know where the terrorists are, and we are not any closer to catching Bin Laden than we were four years ago. Most of the nation is starting to think that perhaps the war was a bad idea, and thus both support for it, as well as Bush's approval ratings are dropping. THAT was what I ment when I said this is the new Vietnam.

Perhaps if you paid attention in history or political science you'd have known all that already.

Back on topic: Did you hear that they bombed the Underground and the buses again? No deaths this time thankfully, but they were out to kill.
