This is a thread for discussion of doing harsh vocals. Here's what I mean:
Screaming
Growling
Grunting
Shrieking
Pig squealing and other animal noises
Computer-enhanced industrial scream-like vocals(think stuff like Hocico)
And other kinds
Now... The rules! I know we like to be breakin' all the rules, but us harsh vocalists need some guidelines in mah thread, so respect mah authoratah.
1. Be constructive in criticism unless the person is an obvious troll. I'll tell some ways to know if you're dealing with a troll in this post.
2. If you don't like this kind of vocal style, you can say so, but don't say how unmusical it is. If you want us to like your classic rock or radio rap, we'd like you to be mature and keep the unmusical crap to yourself. Thanks.
3. If you think the vocals sound evil, be our guest and say so. Some of us kinda wanted that sound, anyway.
4. If you're gonna use this thread to egg on us, get out.
5. Joke growls and the like are okay if done sometimes.
6. Don't tell anyone what kind of vocal is best. No one will care anyway, so don't bother.
7. We're here to enjoy ourselves, not make a religious debate or say how un*insert religion here* we sound. Okay? Again, no one who is serious about about this vocal style is gonna care.
8. If someone wants to get help with starting out or something, help them if possible. We're all brothers and sisters. We may not all be metalheads, but we're all sharing an interest. Help people who share it.
9. Death metal, screamo, post-hardcore, and whatever else makes use of harsh vocals haters, stay out if you are just gonna whine and rant. If you want to pick at me, do it via chat. If you want to whine about how much you hate the music, go whine about it somewhere else. Or complain. Whichever comes first. I make threads like these to allow people who share my interests to congregate, not be egged on.

Now, for the troll identification thing... Here's a site you can use and bookmark to let you know what a troll is at any time. You'll need it if you're doing this kind of stuff, and sharing the vocals.
