Now-a-days Most People(My Age)Base Who They Like On Looks I Am The Only Guy In My Class Who Has Ever Said I I Liked A Girl Because Of Her Pesonallity InFact I Get Made Fun Of It Sometimes,So I Was Just Wondering If This Is True For All Age Groups Or Are Teenagers Just Material Listic.

but it is something you most people figure out at some point. You can't base an entire relationship on looks alone. It doesn't work. For 1, you wouldn't have anything to talk about or do with each other (besides the obvious) if looks were the only thing that you found attractive. And 2nd, looks fade. Eventually the person you are with won't look good anymore and you'll probably dump them and find someone younger....


So, yeah you're probably the exception right now... but if you can find the right girl who feels the same way you do then you guys could actually have a great relationship at your age as opposed to the lame flaky crap that most teenagers do.

okay people were talking about picking a sexual mate here right? So yea on of the things to make the top 5 list is are you attracted to said person, but geeogree is right you cannot base the whole thing on looks (I don't see how u could make it work anyways). You would invariably get bored or annoyed or generally unhappy with your choice, so I would say you're a step ahead when your looking at other qualities to a good mate. Also, speaking from personal experience, it is something you tend to grow out of. When I was younger I'll admit that was probably the most important thing to me, hmmmmm. wonder why none of those worked out? Now there are definately other things (if I were single) that I look for and as you get to know yourself better you also begin to understand what qualities u lika da most.

People are savage. They notice looks, not minds. If a girl looks pretty snazzy, shes snazzy, even if she has an IQ of 60. Its sad really, and its only going to get worse every generation.

I feel that you can get a lot out of a person from just looks alone. You can tell what race they are, their nationality, their gender, their sex (yes, there is a difference between gender and sex), maybe even what they like (maybe they have a shirt that says "I love ice cream", etc.) However, it's nice to delve deeper than that. I am a pretty shy person around people I don't really know. I usually look to see if they are quiet too. I don't feel threatened by most of those people. However, I have made many friends just by being around them for some reason (school project, cousin of a friend, same favourite baseball team, etc.) Sometimes it just takes one thing. You work on it from there. Maybe they'll open you up to new things and maybe you'll open them up for new things.

Now, in attracting the opposite mate, it's good to find someone that you can look at and not feel disgusted at. I for one, am not too picky. I think most people have at least one characteristic that is so just beautiful. One of my friends, his sweat, smells like Doritos. That's just awesome. I have very soft cheeks. Another friend has an awesome beard thing going on. I can see the beauty in all of those things. It's hard to explain. But, they always always need to be someone that I can talk to. Someone who is nice to me. Someone who finds me funny. Someone who always tries their best to help me. A real best friend. I wouldn't even think about marrying (let alone dating) someone who's a stuck up b..... I don't even find most of those women attractive. Their makeup, high standard of living, phony friends and laugh; it all just makes me sick.

In short, I am saying:
The appearance is what will attract you at first, but, it's the things that you can't see that will make you want to stay with them for as long as the forces will allow.

I think that a good appearance helps to give a good first impression. It's not that it's that important, but I think that it matters a lot, especially for teens and young adults.

I don't think that I was such a good person(like you), when I was a teen. I admit that a good looking person had a tiny + for me, compared to the others. But I think that I'm not so "lame" and "superficial" anymore.

Naw, looks aren't everything. Personality plays a big part in a relationship. I looked at personality when I was in school and I met my future fiance. So it's a very good thing to take every aspect into consideration and find someone you'll be happy with for the rest of your life.

I agree with Noelia. Do you see how long relationships between "football guy" and "preppy cheerleader" last? They don't. I'm not ugly, but I'm not really hot either. Simply wearing a nice shirt, jeans, and shoes is enough to start off a good impression. But, once you see through that, being funny (yes, its true, humor really does work), a nice person, and being an intelligent human being will land you chicks (or dudes) pretty quickly.

Looks definitely don't make the person, I will say that when I'm just looking around, my eyes don't often wonder to girls that are not all that attractive, but that really has nothing to do with the person, and I think that if you don't care too much about the looks and you just want to have a nice personal relationship, then good on ya, it's a good virtue to have, I would stick to it if I were you.

I don'' get it. I'd rather date a girl who's funny, smart, and has a good personality than a pretty one who's stupid, has no sense of humor, and mean to everyone.

Lots of people in my school base their relationships on looks, and I think that's just stupid. For example, my friend she went out with a guy for 10 hours and then they broke up. 10 HOURS! Just shows you how well a relationship works out if you base it on looks.

The feature I look at first is a guy's smile, and then his hair.

I'm a teen and I want a girl with a good personality as well as good looks. Good looks aren't the main thing but they're definitely helpful.

Looks certainly do affect the level of attraction, but personality plays an even bigger part of dictatiing whether or not the potential relationship works out. You cant base a relationship off looks, its doomed to fail when people do that. Whats really important is being able to communicate with each other and have common interest. Unfortunately that "opposites attract" rule doesnt work out most of the time, you have to have a few things in common otherwise you cant relate to eachother and that gets you no where.

It is rather sad how people focus so much on outer beauty rather than personal substance... but its kind of shoved down our throats through media i guess. I mean look at jersey shore. :/

Agreed. Its terrible how media has turned everything around on us; 6 pack abs are more important than having a brain and using it. Personally i dont watch tv unless its with my mom because its nothing but drivel.
