So apparently AFR is a Christian radio station.
On 9/11 this year my school had a marching band competition.
So anyways. Our show is Shaharazade. It's an Arabian show, about this dude who goes off and marries random girls then cuts their head off the next day. That is, until a girl named Shaharazade comes along and refuses to well... Do the nasty with him. But, what she does is tell stories to him. One of them 1001 Nights. In the process of this, he actually fell in love with her...
So anyways. The color guard was dressed in short white dresses with a gold unitard under it. Our routine was very smooth and graceful, except during the beginning where a few of us played harem girls.
Well someone decided to call in AFR and say that our school has been glorifying the Muslim religion, because we did an Arabian show, we had the whole band dressed in Muslim attire, and we pulled the Taj Mahal onto the field.
Here's a few problems with that statement.
1) Only the guard had on Arabian attire.
2) Yes, our show is Arabian, but the musical that this was based off of was written by an Englishman and the music by a Russian guy. So our music sounds more Russian than anything.
3) The Taj Mahal is in India, but, it has no religion affliction. What it is, is a tomb for a man's dead wife.
4) Our band director is a Methodist Minister. He said he has no problem with Muslims, but he would not glorify their religion. He said if he ever thought that this would've been a problem he would have either picked a different show, or done a different date.
So, if anyone heard something like this (I'm not gonna post the school on here, just that stuff) on AFR, or from someone else... It ain't true!
Sorry, I also felt like going on a rant. About stupid people. So yeah....
