The biggest problem it poses is that it is a national security threat to not have them documented. We have no idea who is coming into our country if they don't go through the proper channels. Drug gangs and even terrorists can easily cross the border.

Amnesty would justify them breaking the law in the first place and only encourage more to do it. Them taking American jobs is partially due to American labor being so expensive that the money they save hiring illegals outweighs the risk of punishment. Further, the 14th amendment should only be applied to those who are a citizen of the US (the original intent), thereby preventing illegals from hopping the border and giving birth, making their children citizens.

Illegal immigration is a big problem to our economy. Illegal immigrants don't pay taxes, and they take the job away from legal citizens because businesses hire them because they will work for less money (which I think it's horrible to take advantage of someone like that). Also, Amnesty has been tried before and it didn't fix a thing.

Just because illegals are not paying taxes does not mean they are to blame for our crap economy. The point here is government does not know how to spend tax money correctly. They splurge it and they want too much of it at the same time.

Taxing illegals wont fix much but taxing corporations big time on imports and overseas workers will. There will never be enough tax money even if illegals pay taxes it wont do much good.

JigSaw : I agree that the government doesn't know how to spend money. I wasn't trying to say illegal immigrants caused the bad economy, I just mean that they are hurting the economy as well. But yeah government spending is the main problem.

i think it is really bad. 1st of all, its ILLEGAL immigration. so that's a bit self explanatory. 2nd, its crowding the streets and causing people to lose their houses/live in bad towns. plus if they are coming here, they should at least learn the language. Ive had more than 10 occasions of trying to buy stuff at stores and not being able to cause I can't understand the language. so i think it is very bad.

Yes, it is true that illegal immigrants are hurting the economy, but it's also true that the government's bad investing/spending is the main cause of the recession. It's also true that if they come here, they should learn the language and pay taxes. But right now, with our economy in the state it is, we honestly can't do much about it. Once we figure out what we need to do in the Middle East and win this war against terrorism (for the hundredth time), THEN we can work out our own problems. The US can't sit a war out for the fact that we're always trying to form new alliances and make peace.

I don't personally see a problem with people coming to another contry like the U.S. or Canada, and working, but when you have Illegal immagrants coming into a country, and taking our money to other parts of the world, it busts up our economy and puts us in a tight spot, so I would say, no. No, Illegals are not a very Positive thing here, and is a BAD thing.

I actually had this subject in my speech and debate class, and from evidence obtained, believe that we are giving way too much to these illegal aliens. They are using their children as an excuse to stay here. However, as for action to take, I'm not sure that just deporting them would be practical, for several reasons:
1. Our border patrol is understaffed.
2. Why wouldn't they just come back?

Therefore, if we don't give them a reason not to come back, we cannot stop them. However, I realize that there are many families that have great needs, and come here to support themselves in a country where they are able to do so. It's a sad reality, and it's hard to decide what action to take.

I find it wrong they say Illegal immigration is a bad thing but now the new in Law Arizona is racist. First off Immigrants do take jobs but they take jobs no one else wants. If I read right the Chinese made the rail road but the US still don't take in there papers anyway. Second off does it really matter? Most place are popular because immigrants have spend money there. No other commit is needed.

You guys saying that it's "bad for our economy" are insane. It's not bad for our economy! It's the clutzes that are hiring these immigrants for lower wages that are bad for our economy.

You see, companies will try to save money every which way. However, in order for a company to work, they need employees. Most of these employees get minimum wage, and, to that effect, they won't take the job/don't like the job. So, the idea popped into a CEO's head:

"Why don't we hire immigrant workers, who will do more work for less money, mostly because their country is poorer then ours?"

The concept was brilliant. One by one, people started immigrating over to the U.S. of A. It was all fine and dandy until the year came around. "TAXES?!? Why are they so high?" To avoid this, people started to come here illegally.

And that's how the immigration problem started. If illegal immigrants were promised the same wage as natives to America, the problem wouldn't exist.

I don't think it's so much a BAD thing..however a lot of immigrants come to this country only to make money here and send it back to their country.
< Now THAT is something I have a problem with. Not to mention they never bring it upon themselves to learn the english language. Don't get me wrong..a lot of immigrants are hard workers...but it seems that they only work here because its a fortune to them just to receive minimum wage, just to send back to their countries.

My mom is an illegal immigrant.
She spent almost 20 years in the US.
Had me and my sister here (and we're born citizens)
Yet, in 2007, when she's trying to get herself a green card, she gets sent down to Mexico for the interview at the US embassy, she gets declined and "self-deported" so she has to stay down there.
The government is ripping families apart for no reason.
The Latinos did nothing bad. They weren't the ones bombing and crashing planes into buildings.
It really pisses me off because they're picking on innocent people.
The mexicans are only taking jobs that other people won't do.
Now, tell me the truth, when was the last time you saw a Caucasian or an African-American or an Oriental person mowing a lawn? or doing other laborous jobs that the Mexicans do?
Never, is what I say.
But oh well, it's not like it's the first time the government is being unfair and picking on the weaker groups.
It's all just like high school.
