Any really close calls you guys have had, whether it be getting an achievement on a game, beating a boss, getting a girlfriend/boyfriend (EDITED to be politically correct ), etc.


I hate it so much when you're so close to something, but don't actually get it. I post on Vizzed all the time with 99 words, and submit it. If I put in a single word more, I'd get double the viz, but for some reason, I HAVE 99 WORDS AND NOT 100, AND THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. Also, I was playing a game the other day that's like Helicopter, with clicking making the object go higher and stuff. Well, to unlock an Avatar for use on the boards, you need 1500 points. This task takes about 20 minutes of playing. I scored 1499. That's less than a second more and I would have won. SO FRUSTRATING.

A frustrating thing for me is just walking around in video games, with VERY low health, and then BAM! Hit from behind

Oh, and Lou from Guitar Hero III was INSANE. I had to cheat just to beat him :/

vizwiz123 : I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. Especially when I'm trying to save items and money, like if I've used all my cheap healing items, and you're only a couple second away from free healing and something kills you. Or after beating a hard boss and you have no health or items left, and you have to fight something else to get to where you can save.


EDIT: Maybe talking about my close calls will end them! Just typing this post, I had 100 words, instead of 99! Yay! LOL

I REALLY hate it when I'm so powerful, I have rape weapons, amazing armor, and I get taken down by a few people. Especially in Fallout 3. Happens all the time when you level up to 20+. Really the only time it happened to me was in Point Lookout, in the mansion. If only I brought the Alien weapons from Mothership Zeta... those are disgusting.

I'm seriously Bad at COD Modern Warfare 2, and when time I got close to beating someone that's really good. But right before I got the last shot in.(Using, My sniper, so It would have been a headshot.) The time ran out so we tied...

That happens to me when posting all the time when posting!! Some close calls I've had wereediting my layout perfectly, but making one mistake and ruining it all. One that was recent (about 3 hours ago actually haha) is almost getting the sega CD games to work, but I make one small mistake, and end up failing at getting it to work . These types of things happen to me all the time.

Since making this thread, I've actually had a lot better luck with that 99 word posting thing! Maybe to lift the curse, you need to post on vizzed about your close calls, lol. It happened again to me the other day, trying to get an avatar by beating a game, and this time I was 50 points away from the goal. 50 points on that game is like, ten more button presses of dodging stuff. I was also playing this RPG game, and after you kill the bosses his minions that he summoned, who are just regular enemies, stay behind and you have to kill them. I was fighting this boss with huge HP for more than half an hour, and when I finally killed him, his weak little friends finished me off since I had run out of healing items So annoying, what a time waster.

I cant seem to beat my own hi score in the arcade snake game.Ill get just a few points away and panic or loose my concintration.Im gonna keep trying though.

There's this tower defense game on another site that has 15 levels, and you need to not let a single one of your gems get touched in order to get the best rating, brilliant. I have brilliant on every level except 14, and after trying like 10 times (each try takes about 20 minutes) I still don't have it. I always make it to the very last wave where the boss can run all the way to my gems in stealth, so none of my towers can hit him. I can't beat him fast enough It's so frustrating, especially since it's the very last wave and takes 20 minutes every time!!!

Yes... The Cursed Gem things happens to me SO MUCH (but you already know that because you just posted about it. )

I'm in the middle of playing Dark Cloud 2, which has three or four different medals that you can get per level. The ones that kill me are the time-trials that I miss by a number of seconds sometimes, or having to kill everything with a particular weapon - and then a tank inflicts damage on itself (by running over its own missile), or the character with that weapon gets offed by virtue of me getting too cocky.

So, yeah, I know where you're coming from. (222 medals out of 396!)

Annette : Nope, not at all. I tend to use the word rape as in badass and will destroy people, or you just destroyed somebody in a vicious way. I change words as the months go by

In Sonic 2 I was sooooo close to beating Metropolis Zone Act 3 and getting one step closer to beating Dr Robotnik. Those stupid starfish things that shoot out spikes depleted my 9 lives. I was so mad.

Oniya : Wow, I totally know what you mean! That game is brutally annoying at some points. Have you ever tried playing that golf game (spheda?) in the sewers? It's so hard T_T I hate trying to get a picture of the bosses and enemies too, when you're so close to getting the shot but you miss by just a little, or you kill the boss by accident and have to do it all over again! The game is too fun and addicting to give up on though, so that's a good thing.

I've actually gotten pretty good at the golf game - I didn't think I would be. I hate it in the sewers and the fire dungeon, and the water dungeon is just so 'dead' of a surface, but I've done trick shots in the other three dungeons. Bounce it off the floor right in front of the distortion, wing it in at the edge - good thing the 'hole' is so big! LOL

I have missed a couple of pictures (Clown Robo Attack, just because I could never get the shot off in time; and Fire Squall because I replayed that boss battle three or four times and just forgot the time that I finally won it.)

I remember the first time that I tried out for The South Carolina Regional Orchestra, I was 1 violinist from making it. I was 13 years old and I was soooo upset as it was my first attempt. My teacher was still proud since I'd only been playing for a year and a half when I tried out, but I felt so cheated. I also was wishing some person out there ill will. Ha ha... Because, if one person, among the 20 violinists that made it, would've had some circumstance wherein they where unable to participate, I would have been called and accepted. The next year I made it, and every year after that until I graduated highschool, but that one year sticks out to me the most.

I also can "almost" play "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by Charlie Daniels on the violin. However there is one section in the middle section that gets me EVERY TIME. I will be playing along and destroying my bow hairs in the process, and there is this one section that I ALWAYs screw up. I suppose that just calls for more thorough practicing on my part.

The thought comes to mind of all the times when I was playing at a boss in the old school side-scroller games. We'd each have 1 life bar left and I die, that used to tick me off a lot.
