I prefer Poliwrath. Its easier to obtain a Water stone, instead of a King's Rock and trading. Plus, the dual-type gives it a small advantage.

Poliwrath is certainly easier to get, but Politoed is so... I can't think of a better word than cute. It was a pain to get, but it's still one of my top Water Pokémon.
