I was looking at a bunch of stuff on youtube and stumbled upon this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05t17RNjGYA and it blew my mind. It just sounds so crazy. Here is a video where one of the preachers affiliates shows you how to properly burn the Koran http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Tf9M9HRMWk&skipcontrinter=1. So what do you think?

Well I think these guys are being driven by their emotions and aren't providing the evidence to constitute their movement. My view on this is that there is a difference between an Islamic extremist, i.e. terrorist, and a Muslim. The problem is that the Islamic extremists are being driven by what they read in the Qur'an. This is the reason they want to burn it.

I think this is the kind of Christians who are dangerous if he even is one lol. I saw in the second video he was basically saying "if you don't burn this your not Christian". Its the devils work.

Anyone with a brain would know when you burn something like that it does nothing but fuel the fire... this will just make them more blood thirsty. Burning a book won't do much good so if he means what he said he will get a gun and go kill the terrorists himself, else... I really don't think he is Christian he is just a religious nut looking to stir trouble.

Guys like this are trying to create a universal religious war. Their ultimate goal is to establish a one world religion in their own eyes. What they are doing is taking bible quotes too seriously and molding it into something else, and in the end the outcome will result in total anarchy.

These guys are hypocrites they are the extremists of christianity that makes them the same as an islamic extremist.

Jigsaw pretty much said it right there....

now, the tough thing about this is it's his right as an american to burn that book.... but don't be surprised, if this guy actually goes through with it, to see him on the news in a few weeks/months.

It doesn't bother me that the guy will burn Korans. These people were murdered in the name of Islam. And that is what Islam teaches. About 75% of Muslims are radicals anyhow.

Hoochman : 75% of muslims are radical? And there is 1.5 billion muslims worldwide. I think if that was true america would be attacked every other day. Where did you get 75%? And I thought Christianity was about being a pacifist, not fighting extremism with extremism.

Islam was founded on converting or killing anyone who didn't embrace and practice it. This never really went away. As for burning Korans, it's symbolic, but is little more than a slap in the face of the terrorists. It will further alienate anyone who isn't of the same train of thought that Islam is evil and the polar opposite of Judaism and Christianity at it's core.

*prepares to be ridiculed*

tonetone714 : "I thought Christianity was about being a pacifist." Actually it's not about being a pacifist, Jesus commanded Christians to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We are also called to set an example to the world of Jesus' love for us because the Bible says as He was in the world so are we. But personally, I don't believe publicly burning a Qur'an is setting the right example.

Hoochman : Why do keep insisting that is what the religion teaches? I have actually read some passages from the Koran and I will tell you once again, that a lot of the stuff the radicals do IS NOT in the religion. it is man's perversion of the Religion. and as fas as "75 % of Muslims are radicals" BS. that's all i can say is BS. Lagslayer: no it was not, it was founded on (for the most part) the same morals that Christianity and the Jewish religions were founded on. I get kind of tired of people acting like that's the point of the religion or that the majority of them are that way. anyways, onto the topic, it is not right to disrespect another religion that way. The guy is a nut and i think he might just be using religion (incorrectly but you all know tht) to justify his bigotry.

tRIUNE : I'm no biblical scholar, but this doesn't seem to back up what that guy is talking about.

"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you."
—Luke 6:27-31. NIV

But its from the new testament, so I don't know how that works.

From what I understand from history, in the 7th century an Arabian named Mohammed claimed to have revelations from God, which ultimately gave rise to the Koran and the faith of Islam. Mohammed claimed that this faith was the final revelation from God, though he recognized the genuineness of earlier revelations given through Moses and Jesus, both of whom he considered great prophets. He enforced this new faith through the power of the sword, and eventually conquered many of the lands that had been largely Christian. These events eventually led to the Crusades of the 11th through 13th centuries.

tonetone714 : No, Christianity isn't pacifist. I get 75% from I forget his name but he worked in Israel, I'll look him up later, and from another who was in Israel say's you've seen a terrorist, talked to a terrorist, had some kind of interaction with a terrorist. Oh and with regards with less terrorism, you can thank the CIA for that.

Yeah you're right concerning being a pacifist in this way. But what I meant about the salt of the earth and the light of the world is, the salt is the preservation of Godly morals, principles, values etc. and the light is the reflection of God in the Christian's life. So these guys, I would say, aren't really doing either of those by promoting hatred.

*Actually the right word I'm talking about is not being passive, I just realized I had those mixed up. It doesn't make sense to not be a pacifist about what I'm talking about.

This is a bit off topic but I wanted you to know...

"Oh and with regards with less terrorism, you can thank the CIA for that."

You might want to do some researching on who CIA really is before praising them to exterminating terrorism. Their whole organization is nothing but terrorism: mind control, biological and chemical warfare, domestic spying, and can't forget operation cyclone which was to "arm, train, and finance the Afghans". "Al-Qaida, literally "the database", was originally the computer file of the thousands of mujahideen who were recruited and trained with help from the CIA to defeat the Russians."

Anyway I can see some bible quotes as brainwashing here is one example:

"Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it."
Ezra 10:4

Not only can the koran provoke terrorism but so can the bible. If you don't take the quotes too seriously youll be fine but if you live by the quotes you might as well call yourself a terrorist cause that is what these guys are doing they are promoting terror.

After all terrorism is "Calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious".

JigSaw : You're taking it out of context there. Any quote from anywhere can be twisted, but if you include the rest of the material on the subject (i.e., the verse around it telling what they're rising up against and why), it's less easily corrupted.

On topic... wow, that's... I don't see his point there. Yay, we're burning a book that's sacred to the terrorists. Like that's going to stop them or something? We'll end up attacked again, this time from the Muslims inside, if we keep up this hateful nonsense.
It's like saying burning "The Origin of Species" will cause Darwinian supporters to back down and give in to saying Christianity is right or something out there like that.

bigNATE : One way or another anyone who trains people with guns and funds them to kill are terrorists plain and simple. You cannot call the enemy a terrorists because that is a complete paradox, it makes you a terrorist as well because your mission is to kill just like there mission is to also kill for political or religious reasons.

I think the paradox can be viewed as there is a difference between terrorism and counter-terrorism. So the question would be who's the terrorist or counter-terrorist.

Frankly JigSaw that is liberal paranoia against the CIA. If you live in the USA then they're probably doing something right now against terrorism to protect you. Back to the thread issue. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I see nothing wrong with what the preacher does. If this guy is gonna be cut down for, than I suggest people cut down the Arab Muslims in the middle east who burn the US and Israels flag and the bible and sing death all of us here in the USA and Israel. What about the violence they incite?

Hoochman : How does that make this guy's actions any better? Claiming to be Christian means you do not perform hateful actions against other people, even those who have done you wrong
"But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you," Matthew 5:44
