Here's some handy hints for you-

Use a soft, lint/dirt free cloth (microfiber is a good choice). You can also buy cloths specially made for cleaning disks.
Hold the disc in a pincer grip with one finger along the edge and another in the hole in the middle.

You want to try and avoid touching the underside of the disk with your fingers.
With the cloth, start from the centre of the disc and clean straight out towards the edge.
Never clean by rubbing in a circle around the DVD/CD – this can cause scratches.

If you still have fingerprints, dust or oily residue on the disc, use a soft cloth and a store bought DVD/CD disk cleaner fluid.
If you don't have this, I read that you can try using a small amount of rubbing alcohol and water (mixed to a 1:1 ratio).
Though I havnt tried this myself.
