Can someone please help me?
Alright so i was remembering old tv shows and I can't remember the name of this one show. I was really young when i use to watch it, like probably back in 1996 or something. so all i remember from it was they where puppets and there where 3-4 of them i think, and they lived in the forest. their house was built around this tree and it had a small stable next to it. their pet donkey would live in this stable and would take them into the real world to learn and watch people. but when they would go out they would have to hide or be very secretive about it so they humans wouldn't see them. I think it may have been on pbs, nicktoons, or cartoon network or something like that. and that is all i remember about it. some details may be off. I REALLY NEED SOME HELP THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY NOT KNOWING!

I'm pretty sure this was never on nickelodeon or cartoon network. I've no recollection of such a show. That sounds like a pretty strange premise for a show.

i think it might be "under the umbrella tree" but i could be wrong but i remember there was a couple puppets on their because there was a blue bird

I know it was a learning show. I don't remember much about the show; but I know it wasn't a dream. I remember watching it all the time. No "Under the Umbrella Tree" isn't it but is is sort of similar. I don't remember them living with a human; I think they live by them selves.

I’m not sure what the name of the show was but it does seem like one of those shows that one would see on PBS during the day. I know that there were a couple of shows like that back then that I would flip past that were on PBS.

My best guess would be to do a Wikipedia search on PBS programming. Sorry I couldn’t be more of a help. If it were a question that was about the 80s I would likely be more helpful.

yeah I know it seems like a weird show and it wasn't on for long; I think that's why people don't know what I am talking about. I am beginning to think this may have all been in my head, but I swear this was a real show a really long time ago. Thanks for all the help so far though!

DMP1991 : I’m sure it’s not all in your head… It’s funny how you start thinking of something that you remember bits and pieces of from your youth and you can’t remember focal points of and it drives you crazy trying to figure it out. We’ve all been there at one time or another. I became curious myself and I was able to pull up this link via Wikipedia that lists PBS Children’s programming.

If it was on PBS I’m sure it would be one of the programs that are in the list. Hope this helps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PBS_Kids It only goes back as far as 1993 but I am thinking that there were probably some programs that were from years before that probably went through reincarnations to update the program's content.

Thank you bvd1022 but none of those shows were it. Thank you so very much making me feel better about its not all in my head. I wish there was a site were you can put in details of a show and it would find it; even shows from other countries.

MORE DETAILS (somewhat close): I can see them in the back yard, kind of full of trees and bushes and they are using math or something of that sort to build stuff or even just playing. they would feed a carrot or something like that to their donkey. and what they would be doing at home they would find someone or a group of people doing the same thing or demonstrating those skills. Then when they where done there they would ride their donkey home and continue what they were doing. The house was like built around a tree and inside there were bright colors and lots of plants and knickknacks.

DMP1991 : You’re quite welcome… I will give you credit for making a guy curious enough to do research. I started looking around again and I came across this show named “Lamp chop’s play-along” with Shari Lewis. It featured puppets and seemed like it was set in the forest from what I was able to look up. I would try to see if you could find a video on Youtube of it. I hope this is what you were thinking of. From what I was able to look up it seems this show ran until Lewis’ death in 1998.


I am not really familiar with educational programming as I am about say 80’s music for example but this is the only one that jumped out at me as things that featured the characteristics that you described. Like I said before it wouldn’t shock me if something sort of a reincarnation of this show is running today on some children’s channel but this is the only thing that I was able to find that fit the time frame you gave.

I am a writer so I can relate to remembering bits and pieces of things and not remembering the exact title or event of something. I think it is one of those things that makes you human to almost obsess over something until you finally figure it out and then more often than not you find yourself saying to yourself something along the lines of “God what couldn’t I remember that, I should have been able to” etc.


The same thing happens to me in regard to movies and sitcoms occasionally.
