Very true. I wonder what exactly is going on with those. I haven't heard too much about them in a while.

LOL thats the; funniest thing i heard all day!!! but oh well.

The first point I will try to make is this, necissity breeds invention. When we start to run out of fossil fuels (won't be for another 40 years at least at the current rate) people will start to make crazy inventions, they already are!!! They've made solar panels that are 500% more effective and they are cheaper to make!!! I'm not too worried. If we split a single hydrgen atom there will be crazy energy. When I was litte my dad used to tell me that all the good inventions came from temperate climates. ANd that is true and proven. Because necessity breeds invention. Thats my humble opinion.

The second point I will try to make is this. I live in south dakota, where there are about 10 trees.... And animals and bugs arn't lacking in the least. There are still hundreds of millions of acres of rainforests left. Nolthing to worry about. And what about this Darwin stuff? Animals adapt and survive. Not to say we shouldn't be nice to them. America isn't doing all that much to hurt the envirement except using abunch of oil. And once that runs out i guess we won't have to worrry about it. All our factories are very very clean, goverment regulations. Enviremenalists blow most things way out of proportion. Like I've said before, The world has been warming since the last ice age. Do you think the cavmen were using fas and arosol back then? I thiunk not. The news always reports "the ocean has went up one cm, or this iceberg has broken off. But what they don't report is when they found a major N. Pole Iceshelf and grown 2 miles. TWO FRIKEN MILES.

Point number three: the world ain't too overpopulated yet. I live in the country and thier isn't another house for a mile, Nuff said.

Point number four, I go look at the Mosouri river and it is beautiful. I look at the bright stars, and the bright moon, and the clouds in the sky and it is beatful and pristine. Untouched by the hand of man. I don't know what i was saying there

Point number 5 on the envirment : All things in moderation, and we should treat the envirment well. If people need the land for thier living, to grow crops, i say go ahead. We shouldn't not clear a field jus cuz there's a prarie dog town in it. So what im trying to say is be nice and respect the envirement and don't pollute. But don't be a wacko and believe bogus propoaganda. LIke John says. If the p0loticions ever admit things are ok they would get laughed and booed on the stage.

EDIT, no need to tell me I'm a bad speller, i had to write this turbo speed.

Wow... that was the worst misspelling of Missouri I have ever seen.

And I know that there are more than 10 trees in South Dakota, I've been through the Black Hills.

You know, if we had learned to live in the trees it would be easier... you know, think Lothlorien in the Lord of the Rings. You have people and you have trees. The main reason that the land was cleared was for farmland. But I do agree that the human population is too large... but there is little that we can really do about it, so all we can really do is wait for the next Ice Age or a massive plague to strike again.

Instead of saying people should die elara. Why not attempt to create new ways of growing crops. Geneticly enginering food. Or if we are 'over populated' (you do know they said this a very long time ago when we weren't even close to what we are now) then why not create new residential buildings? Where more vertical space is used. Why is death on your agenda?

Death is on everyone's agenda, John, it's part of life. Most HUMANS don't want genetically engineered food, that's why.

HAHAHHAHAAHHAA

when you go the store and get veggies.......... they are gentically modified. You know that right? They really are. There is nothing wrong with them. They are just better. There is NO CONCEIVABLE SANE reason why you would 'not want them' Excuess my boldness, but you would have to be a f***ing idiot to think they are bad for you. The only reason we can still feed the world is becasue of this. So really there is no point in your post right there. Another thing, i don't understand your use of 'HUMANS' are you implying that people who want affordable highquality food that needs less chemicals are of a different species. Interesting theory.

I suppose death does have a place on every agenda.......... but it should not be in this catagory. Expecailly liberals (no i am not using this as an insult so don't get on my ass) who claim to value all life.

umm... take an economics class then say that people want modified food. Most people don't even know that the vegetables they buy in the store are modified. It especially sucks for the vegetarians, considering they inject some veggies with genes from ANIMALS.

By the way, I'm not a liberal, or any other political classification.

yeah but Belial.... econimics classes are all based on assumptions about people that aren't 100% accurate.... I do understand what you mean though...

I like my genetically engineered food.... mostly because I don't know which food is and which food isn't engineered... so I just don't care

1. Yes you are a political classification. You just don't care to spend the time to figure out what it is. Most people would agree with me, with your current opinions and such, that you would be a liberal.

And so i ask you this: Do you not like GE food? If so, why?

Should we really cator to the minortiy so the majority suffers? So hungry people of the world starve? All because of some people who think agaisnt the way they were made to think? I don't know what makes vegitarians tick.

She may be a centrist...which is neutral, but alas, it is still a political classification.

I may not have been here to see all of your post, but this is the smartest thing I've seen you type. I don't tend to agree with right wingers often but you made some great points.

Unfortunatly for your question about GE food. People have been fed genetically engineered food, and have died from it. Diseases can also be transferred by genetic engineering and new viruses could be created.

I found it a bit messed up, in my opinion.

I really don't like gentetically modified foods because they taste weird to me. Things taste better And they do create new diseases, and the scary part about that is that they don't have a cure for those diseases. Either way, someone suffers, and I could care less about some humans dying. It's necessary, in my point of view.

Ok well a first question. What diseases have they caused. Please cite some sources. Because i remember listening to my biology teacher (biggest liberal i have EVER met) and i think she said something about that whole GE foods killing people was an urban legand or a story tooken out of context or something along those lines.

And second, the whole taste thing is all in your head
lol
i just thought that picture was ammusing

There's more to life than a cliassification. SO GET OVER IT. I don't fit in your liberal group.

It isn't just a story. Our midterm was on genetically modified foods in my English class comparing Shelley's Frankenstein to modified foods. I believe it was titled 'FrankenFoods'. There. I "cited" something. Does that make you happy? *pats Joh's head like she would a puppy*
How are the potential risks to human health determined?

The safety assessment of GM foods generally investigates: (a) direct health effects (toxicity), (b) tendencies to provoke allergic reaction (allergenicity); (c) specific components thought to have nutritional or toxic properties; (d) the stability of the inserted gene; (e) nutritional effects associated with genetic modification; and (f) any unintended effects which could result from the gene insertion.
I'm going to refrain from commenting on your childish shot at me with the whole 'head patting thing'. What you are not seeing is the amount of people affected. The way you were saying things earlier was as if people were going to die over these 'new diseases'. Well i have not seen any evidance for 'new diseases' being created, what i have seen is the safety. GE foods like EVERY other food have risks. The chances of having adverse reactions are slim. So for most people, it is safe. Its not like everyone can eat such things as peanuts. Its also not as if they are alergic to all GE foods. So its really not so bad.

And i know you don't want to be put in a classification, because me, the man, would be putting a label on you and you might then have to step into reality. Even though you don't want to be put in a catagory, doesn't mean you don't go there. You could be a libertarian, but i doubt it. Just cuz i don't like being put in a group based upon my race, doesn't make me not white.

Edit: Your quote is also about how they are investigated to see if they are a health risk... no realivance here. Also the WHO has a lot of euros working in it. If you didn't know, they despise GE foods. So i guess you get what you get with those guys....

Trying to avoid the bickering, but if that said person has an allergic reaction eating GE food, the genes would most likely be resistant to antibiotic treatment, if someone was deathly allergic to peanuts and ate something that contained them, they wouldn't stand a chance.

Interesting point, but would that really affect someone if they got a few genes from a peanut? Not too sure about that. I mean if it had a lot maybe. I am not entirely sure what has to be present for the allergic reaction to take place. Anyone here know for sure?

You can't get genes from eating it but genes effect EVERYTHING and chemicals trigger allergic reactions, Genetic engineering is basically mutating genes and certain mutations can strengthen chemicals making them immune to antibiotics.

I'm more interested in learning about the human mind, not their genes, So I may not be the most reliable source.
