With all these remakes coming like Ocarina of Time 3DS, Starfox 64 3DS, Goldeneye, and some others and loads of rumors of other remakes like FFVII on the PS3, FFV and FFVI on DS or some other platform(if this is true, I doubt it'd be on DS anymore), etc.(I really can't think of anymore right now -.-), I'd think that people would be excited for these. These are great games that, though they're already masterpieces, are rather "old and backdated" and apparently need an update in graphics, accessibility, music, etc.
I'd usually say, "Hey that's fine with me. But it was groundbreaking during its time, so I don't find it that necessary to have them enhanced." And I still think so. But, whenever I hear details of remakes of the games that I absolutely adore(OOT, FFVI, stuff like that XD), I get overcome with nostalgia and I imagine how it would be so nice to have remakes of those games... full 3D environments to replace pre-rendered backgrounds, orchestrated and enhanced music, voice acting(not OOT O.o, but for FF games I think voice acting would be alright. Dissidia Final Fantasy tells me that Square Enix knows what they're doing when it comes to voice actors/actresses.), stuff like that. I'd say there was nothing really wrong with remakes.
But, there's always some people who seem to feel strongly against remakes. While I understand that the originals are almost always better than remakes, and that some games don't need the remake at all since it might be a lot worse than the original, I don't see why they have to be so... hostile against remakes. Most of the best games that are being remade or are rumored to be remade like OOT, FFVII... the originals are provided by the companies through their downloading services like Wii Shop Channel and PSN(not to mention we have some of the games here on Vizzed ), so you could choose to ignore the remake entirely and just play the original. But still, some people seem to really hate the idea of remakes.
And honestly, some newer gamers or kids won't play the old games because of the "backdated features." Once again, I don't like that kind of mindset. I like playing old retro games(which is why I joined this site lol), but I think that if remakes were made, then it would sort of encourage gamers new to the series or to the game to experience these wonderful video games. I don't see anything wrong with that.
So, could someone please tell me why some people can be so strongly against remakes? Especially if you are one of those people XD

I think it's the thought of the remake letting us down or being no where near as good as the original, personally i would love a remake of FFVII but at the same time i think the original would be pretty hard to beat i don't want a remake if there not going to put effort into it... Sometimes you just got to let the Original be and not bother trying to better it

AndyGer : Well, I'm sure they would put effort into making a FFVII remake if they were going to. Actually I think that's the reason they're not making one right now, since they've got so much already going on. Versus FFXIII, Agito FFXIII, various Kingdom Hearts games, FFXIV, the list goes on. That's already plenty to deal with haha.

Well the thing is with remakes that it is often nothing new other then a paint job.
I know I personally prefer the anime styled graphics of FF6 and dread it being made into a "3D" game like FF3 DS.
I dont see a problem showing new people these games, but if they cant play them for what they are, great games with great stories without complaining that "it's not pretty enough" then what's the point?
The point is only to make the companies money, nothing more.
Another reason some are against remakes on the Wii for example is that the controls are not the same as the originals either, playing Goldeneye on the Wii will be nothing like the N64 version.
Not to mention that they are changing parts of the game, like replacing Brosnans face with that new idoits one.
Honestly, Goldeneye is Brosnan, not what's his name...

Well, GoldenEye is allowing all types of controllers in that game. So, Classic Controller, Wiimote and Nunchuk, Classic Controller Pro, maybe even Gamecube Controller.
and as for FF6, I never thought of it as anime styled, but I liked the sprites XD It's the best FF game in 2D in my opinion(well, also the best I've played so far.) Plus I think they're deciding not to do the remake(if they're making one) on DS, since they said they were "undecided" with making FFV and FFVI remakes for the DS because of "technical issues".
