I have decided to resurrect a argument which has gone on for many a year.

Which is the better console, SNES (Super Famicom) or the Mega Drive (Genisis)?

I prefer the Mega Drive myself because of the Mega CD and 32X add ons, plus the quality games like Sonic and Knuckles, Road Rash CD, Sonic CD, Phantasy star, Duke Nukem and Toejam and Earl.

I prefer the SNES. Although the Genesis had some add-ons and had some good technology, the SNES had more games that were good AND known. Super Castlevania IV, Kirby Super Star, Super Mario World, A Link to the Past, just to name a few. But I do think the has some good games as well.

dont get me wrong, i love both consoels and both have great games i just enjoyed the Mega Drive more, plus the Mega Drive had the SEGA channel.

I honestly think there's no contest. SNES is a lot better than the Mega Drive. As much as I like Sonic games and some other SEGA games, SNES has lots of great franchises and games that I could name off the the top of my head, but I don't feel like it right now lol

I do think I have seen this thread subject before, but no matter.

I think the Snes is the far superior console, it has better games, more RPGs, and generally better quality of games.
I have both consoles and I always spent more time playing the Snes then the MD.
The MD really just seems to be the same 5 generic platformers over and over again with a handfull of other games thrown in.

MD is ok for casual gaming, but the Snes was the one that stood out for hardcore gaming.
