It won't evolve until you beat the Elite Four and catch at least 60 Pokemon. Then you go to Prof. Oak and he'll give it to you. So your Golbat won't evolve until you get the NAtional Pokedex.

When your Golbat is going to the evolution stage, don't press B. If you rapidly tap B, your just going to not make it evolve. If it is holding an Everstone, it will also not make Golbat evolve.

To evolve a Golbat into a Crobat you must be good friends with. A few ways to do this is to travel with it, use it frequently in battles, give it a berry that raises a pokemon's happiness, and give it a Soothe Bell.P

Golbat doesn't evolve in Fire Red/Leaf Green you have to trade it over to sapphire,ruby,or emerald for it to evolve then trade it back to register it in your pkdex..

Along with what BreakDown mentioned, putting it in front of your part helps a lot, that's how I got Pichu to evolve. When giving it berries to bring up it's happiness, careful, as those berries not only bring up happiness but can lower either it's: Speed, Atack, or Defense stat, so read the berries' description first.
