The G8 and G20 are meeting in Canada this time around so I've been seeing a lot of stuff on the news about it recently. What do you guys hope to see happen from these meetings?

There are also lots of protesters that come to these events with a whole range of varying issues they want to raise. Any thoughts on those things? Anything you know of that is protested about at G8/G20 type events???

I have nothing specific to bring up with regards to this thread so anyone feel free to raise an issue or 10 so that we can talk about something

They deserve it they are the worlds elite and then they use your tax dollars to protect themselves against protesters But as always most the attention goes to the cops using unlawful resistance against the protesters and the protesters in return get labeled as anarchists or terrorist.

In short, no one likes elites or police especially when they are working together. They basically are making world decisions without our consent basically globalizing everything in order to progress their agenda.

On wiki it says "In 2007, the combined G8 military spending was US$850 billion. This is 72% of the world's total military expenditures. Four of the G8 members, the United Kingdom, United States of America, France and Russia, together account for 96–99% of the world's nuclear weapons"

So as you can see we are dealing with elite organized criminals I don't know a whole lot about it but anyone with that kind of money and weaponry are up to no good they can basically do anything they want. Main thing though I think just revolves around globalization.

most likely.... what I heard the most from the media coverage of the issue is that most people were complaining about the cost of this latest meeting. Security costs were upwards of 1 billion dollars. Just for security. Why not buy webcams and save most of that money. Or pick a better location than downtown Toronto.

As for the protesters... 99% of them were peaceful. There were small groups of violent protesters that deserve punishment regardless of the issue they are protesting. You can't break the law regardless of what's going on. Even if you think these are the elite criminals of the world.... breaking the law only gives them any power you have left.

Might be to shove it in peoples faces? Or for the fact that if you want good security, good hotels, good etc... it needs to be in a location that has all of those combined into one. If it were in a really remote location they would probably have to use the military as security, which they probably should be doing in the first place. It's like putting area 51 in downtown Toronto of course people are going to wonder what is going on

They really need to use web cams, that much money wasted in 1 day is insane I guess it came out of Toronto's budget? They could have easily done this meeting in a submarine or some Army base with security already paid for. But you know rich people they often go out of there way to live in luxury.

Oh, and the only problem though with web cams or meetings online is they probably could be easily recorded and what not. Same could be done in person but with the right security and stuff they are safe from things like that happening so might be another reason why they do meetings in person.

Protesting to me is a bit pointless in my opinion there are better ways to do more harm or get the message out but at least people are trying to get the word out using the media's help somewhat

It came out of the federal budget actually.... since it was a meeting of world leaders. But it still disrupted downtown Toronto a lot and lots of vandalism happened in the process.

yeah, I'm sure security is a big issue for web meetings.... I'm willing to bet enough people have enough know how to gain access.... but I don't see what could be so important that needs to be kept secret that they couldn't just make the meetings public.

And I agree that protesting doesn't do much. At least not in the numbers that showed up in Toronto. They estimated 10,000 protesters showed up and they counted at least 50 different issues they were protesting. You wanna get something done with protesting.... then get 100,000 people or more together and pick 1 or a small number of related issues.... that will get more attention.

I wish an end would come to the G8 G20 meetings. The G8 and G20 are talked about as being tough and great, but honestly, I haven't seen them do squat. They talk about being aggressive and big problem solvers, but they really haven't done anything but talk. Them and the UN just talk. Take whenever they talk about Iran or North Korea. They just Criticize or impose sanctions. Big whoop. Plus, being a Christian, seeing the prophetical end times significance worries me. My hope is that they get something done for once.
