Now, I know that the whole thumbs thing can be flawed and stuff. I also know that it isn't a good idea to allow people to know who gave you thumbs up or down because some people can totally abuse the thumb system.
But, would it hurt that you can tell which post caused you to get a thumbs up or thumbs down? I think that would be beneficial... correct me if I'm wrong.

... You haven't already answered a question like this, have you?

2 things to make this really simple.

1. The system is being changed by David at some point.

2. Do you want people to know that you rated them down? I've seen the reactions of people who lost a trust point or 2 and they reacted very very badly. I think allowing people to know is a bad idea. It would only create more drama.

geeogree : I said I don't want people to know WHO rated them down, but which post rated them down. That way, people could notice how which posts can be negative and which posts are nice and use that as a basis to become a better poster... but then again, they may be some cons to that too.

oh, sorry.... I feel like I read the post but skimmed at the same time....

I also assumed you were asking a very similar question that every one else has. I think knowing which post got rated down could be illuminating . It could use the notification system to tell you and it would link right to it.

Although, I do see some people getting a thumbs down for a seemingly good post (to them) and reacting badly to that and questioning people relentlessly... but that happens already when people notice stuff like that so it won't really make a difference.

Yeah, I dont mind if people are told what posts got them rated down.
But like geeo said there are people that would get linked to a post they thought was good that had a thumbs down and have a b**** about it.
I dont know, I wouldnt mind these notification systems for thumbs and trust points if there was a delay, like the board sent out all the notifications at midnight.
Cause as it is the person could see who was last in the thread he got rated down in and could harrass them about it.
Pros and cons, not sure if this idea is good or bad really...

Well, I suppose that if it was a "reply to post" that was thumbs down, then people are bound to assume that the person that was being replied to had thumbs down on the sender(gee that was a handful to type )... oh well lol
