I also played Midnight Avenger, about an hour or so into it.

I'm also working on a review for it which I'll put on my site.

The story is deffinately a 10, but the map tile placement isn't the greatest, no offense, and I haven't seen any sprites or map tiles that aren't default.

But again, I say, the story is excellent!

Oh I've worked some custom gfx into there!
I've tried to make Jin a bit more animated e.g. in the training sequence I made Jin do a few fancy kicks and flips and stuff.

I know the gfx for the main part are defaults but I did make the game 6 years ago when I had no idea how to make custom gfx. Not good ones anyway.
And I saw no point in completely changing the tile sets for the Director's Cut.
Besides I think a lot of games can be excellent despite using default gfx (see Crestfallen series)
