Do you remember leaked photo's of the Xbox 360's possible motherboard? It spread rumors about Microsoft developing a new version of the 360, dubbed "slim". Today, at E3, turns out that the rumors were true. Introducing the new Xbox 360 is your host, Rasenganfan2! Kudos to Engadget for the pictures.



















" Update: Here they are, we've got video on the way as well. Here are some initial thoughts:
The touch sensitive buttons quickly asserted themselves as not-the-best-thing-ever when we were unable to tell if we'd turned the Xbox on under the bright lights of Microsoft's setup. We're sure we'd see the green glow easily in our dark entertainment center at home, but it's a small little inconvenience -- one that PS3 owners are well aware of.
The touch sensitive eject button isn't so bad, because the tray seems uber fast -- we didn't clock it, but we'd say it pops out faster than our existing Xbox.
The Xbox feels just about as heavy as the existing Xbox, although the power adapter is smaller and much lighter.
We booted up Alan Wake and while we were in a relatively loud room, we didn't find the Xbox to be loud at all. We'll have to get it in the labs to see how it stacks up with the original, but Microsoft obviously had noise pollution in its sights here. They worked directly with the drive manufacturer to reduce every source of noise (including air turbulence!), and dub their accomplishment "whisper quiet."
This is a personal opinion, but we think it looks pretty badass in person, though not at all a wild shift from the existing look."

I think that this new 360 looks worth getting. The smaller design and new motherboard means that it will require less power compared to the big 360's. Not to mention that the new 360 looks epic, is small (perfect for someone who travels - like myself), comes with built-in wi-fi (YES), and has a new controller design. I'm in love.

WOOOW I was thinking upgrading my basic console to an elite one but now i'm going to wait for this!! the new look is awesome!!!

Gokon : They're shipping those to retailers today too. I doubt it'll be long till you get your hands on one of those Except people at the press conference got em' free O haha

I didn't think it was that good i watched blake3one6's vid on youtube basically a rant on it and when I saw it on E3 I thought it was going to be another failure

theflyinglegend : YOU WERE AT E3!? Seriously, if you don't want your 360... anyway, are you calling the 360 a failure? If you ask me, and I'm no jock or fanboy, I think the 360 is the best console of this generation. The (post-new xbox experience) interface, the controller, the service. I just love 360.

Rasenganfan2 : lol, I'm not even that much of a 360 fan, but I'd still like a free newly designed 360 XD.

The new system looks kind of cool but in my opinion, if you already have an elite, it's not worth it for disk space you are not going to use (seriously, 250 gigs!!! And I thought 120 gigs was a lot when I got my elite.) I do give it props for it looking slimmer and cooler. And it is kinect ready. Cool, so I can spend $150 extra for an xbox wii knockoff that dosen't support fps games and you just play mini games with it while having to set up a gym room mat!!! I think I might just upgrade my computer or buy an ipad while I'm at it. The only reason to buy this is if you are planning to upgrade your 360 pro, but there should be no reason to buy this other console just because it has some touch screen feature on the system, a new design, (which looks kind of ugly). I would only buy this if you are upgrading. Do not fall into another money trap by microsoft.

Hey what's new in the controller??

That doesn't look very slim to me Still looks a bit bulky but that is just my opinion

JigSaw : it's not slim, just short. Really shoulda named it 360 midget

I agree with seeron. Seems like Microsoft just wants more money. The gaming market has been dying back lately, do you think introducing a "new" console is smart at this time?

iLikeCupcakes : Yeah, I might get one if I have the money. Get a Kinect (Natal's official name) bundle.

Bobbynibbles : I think the reason for this is to improve sales of the 360, help people forget the infamous RRoD.

Rasenganfan2 : RRoD? If I'm anything I'm a Sony guy and I assume that is a Xbox exclusive.

Bobbynibbles : RRoD is the Red Ring of Death, the thing that plauged many a 360, and, while RRoDs are now endangered, they continue to exist and stalk the unsuspecting owner.

Rasenganfan2 : so the console can now die without an visible indicators? Or are they saying the console will no longer break?

Bobbynibbles : You will have a red dot on the console now.

Rasenganfan2 : WTF? That's just stupid and useless. Is it supposed to be some huge thing?

The Red Dot replaces the Green Dot. Red Dot lets you know that you're screwed.

I like the glossy paint finish, only thing I wanna know is if it's quieter. I love my 360 won't buy another just because it's quieter but they can be too loud sometimes.
