Should Old posts label as "Off Topic" be cleared to make room for new posts?

I noticed that many of the thread created eventually become labeled by a moderator as "Off Topic" and these threads take up more than 50% of all the pages. I feel like if there is nothing to post on in those other pages then, the threads really shouldn't be there anymore. One can always remake the thread if they want to, but having all the extra blank pages seems unnecessary.

well, we could move them all to the trash can.... but that takes a long time to do manually and it's not worth David's time to script that.

And you can't delete them without creating a huge database problem.

And.... those aren't listed as "off topic".... they are simply closed threads. You wouldn't be able to post in them if you tried.

So while I understand what you're looking for.... it doesn't serve much purpose. Most people don't look beyond the first page of any forum for places to post.

geeos right, most people are too lazy to look past the first page.
I personally do try and clear closed threads from at least page one once a week or so, so the amount isn't as much as it could be
