Well, The Vizzed staff okayed my making this thread. It just has to be as Geeogree put it "A good quality thread". So, Ask me about anything and everything about DC Comics. It can be about the characters powers, the characters lives. Just anything. You can ask me about the origins. And if you don't know anything about the characters or the The DC comics in general ask about that. Ask me about any of the big events in the universe, or if you know nothing about the events ask me what they are. Those are small examples of what you can ask me. I will answer 3 questions at a time(Assuming I'll get that many)So please ask away about anything.

seeron : There are 5 major Green Lanterns: Alan Scott, Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner. I'll tell you the origins of Alan Scott and Hal Jordan just because Hal Jordan is the most well known and Alan Scott is the first. Alan Scott debuted in All-American comics 1940. In his origin, there was no green lantern corp. A meteor crashed on earth which later became known as the star heart. When this meteor crash landed it prophesied 3 times saying it would bring death, than life, than power. The meteor crashed in China where some china men tried to take it and the green flame flashed and killed the men. It is then seen at an asylum where the guards give the rock to one of the insane inmates who carves it into a lantern. The flame flashes green again and restores the mans mind. The lantern ends up on a train with Alan Scott, and the train crashes, and everybody on board is killed except Alan Scott. The flame flashes green again and tells him of the prophesy that I just told you, and it gives Alan Scott its power and tells him to use it for justice. In his first adventure he carves a ring from the lantern and recites the oath which he will use whenever he charges his ring: "And I shall shed my light on dark evil, for the dark things cannot stand the light, the light of the Green Lantern. Hal Jordan's Story is much different. His debut was in Showcase 22 1959 In his story there is a whole corp. What happens is, An alien named Abin Sur is flying his spaceship when a yellow storm hits the ship.(yellow is the one impurity the ring is vulnerable to). Abin Sur crash lands on earth and is dieing, so he uses his ring to spot the one man without fear and full of courage, and so the ring brought Hal Jordan who was a test pilot for Ferris Aircraft. Abin gave Hal his ring and his suit and explained the mission which is to protect his space sector 2814. There are 3600 sectors. Sorry the explanation is so long. Geeo said I had to give a good response.

Well, it was never really explained why it only harmed Superman, except in the movie, an episode of the tv show, and a couple of issues. The reason why it was harmful at all was because of when Planet Krypton exploded, a form of nuclear fusion took place. The chain reaction from Krypton's explosion caused not only the rock from krypton to turn into kryptonite, but anything on krypton. one of the only explanations I've ever heard on why it is so harmful is the uniqueness of its radioactive signature. The other explanation I heard from the George Reeves superman series was that there are 2 forms Kryptonite. A negative form of kryptonite neutralized the the positive kyptonite particles that powered superman. The one last explanation that I heard was that Kryptonite interferes with the radiation superman absorbs from the stars very painfully. There are lots of forms of kryptonite. Good question you asked. Those are the explanations.

Hey I have a question! How come no one ever looks at batmans gear, realizes its expensive, then points to the only man in the area that could afford it?

seeron : Bat mite is more of an in between guy. He isn't really a villain, he's just really mischievous. He's actually an imp who is Batman's biggest fan. He just gives Batman a lot of trouble.

scorpion347 : That was one of those things that the writers never really put a whole lot of time into explaining, except maybe a couple issues. I'm pretty sure the 2 things you mentioned have been connected before. The biggest thing was that they couldn't pin Batman's actions on Bruce Wayne, and Bruce Wayne always passed himself off as an uninteresting Socialite who is a playboy with no job.

scorpion347 : Partly because she is magic. Also, she is empowered by the greek gods. In the comics, everybody who is granted the powers of the gods such as Captain Marvel and wonder Woman is given extreme magical resistance.

I'm not much of a comic reader so this may seem like a lame question but could you name like 10 or so of the big names of the DC comic universe (you can do more if you like.... but just so I can get an idea of who we're talking about here)

How do you feel about the recent arc in which Grayson became Batman and Damian became Robin while Tim Drake searches for Bruce? Or about Bruce's "death" in the first place?

geeogree : DC is Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Captain Marvel, Spectre, Lex Luthor, Brainiac etc. Whereas marvel is more Hulk, Spider-man, Iron Man etc.

bignatealpha : Bruce's death in the first place was a bit of a bummer. The thing that takes a bit of the disappointment away from his death is the fact that he was resurrected. I'm glad that Dick Grayson was the replacement. In my opinion, if there was ever someone to take on the mantle of the bat after Bruce Wayne, it was Dick Grayson. I also was ok with Damien Wayne as robin, just because we see someone new as Robin for a change.

geeogree : I would say the most powerful hero in the DC universe is the Spectre. He is an angel from God who judges criminals in gruesome ways. He's more vigilante than hero. The most powerful villain, or I should say villains would probably be The Anti-Monitor, Parallax, Superman Prime, and Nekron Lord of the dead. I named all the villains because they all either destroyed the universe or came close to it. The Anti-Monitor is an omnipotent ruler and creator of the Anti-Matter universe who caused what was probably the biggest event in DC comics since its foundation, which was the Crisis on Infinite earths. And in this story, first off, DC comics was an infinite multiverse. Assuming you know what that is. Anti-Monitor destroyed the multiverse and was defeated when the last remaining universe's was merged into one. Parallax is a fear entity who possessed Hal Jordan, a green lantern after he was driven insane from the loss of his city. As parallax, Jordan Destroyed the universe until heroes came back to the dawn of time, stopped him, and caused a new big bang. That happens in the min series: "Zero Hour: Crisis in Time". Superman Prime is the evil Superman from the universe prime who is probably the physically strongest being in the universe and nearly destroyed the universe trying to remake the multiverse with Alexander Luthor in Infinite Crisis. And finally Nekron. Nekron caused what was called the blackest night and raised every being in the universe who died and possessed them and tried to extinguish the light if life in the universe until destroyed by the White Lantern Corp in the Blackest Night Mini Series. Oh, I only partially explained the events.

JigSaw : DC comes from Detective Comics. I'm pretty sure Batman Beyond was DC.

scorpion347 : I know all this because I used to be a big comic book freak. No offense to anyone who is really into comics. Most of the info I know, I looked up a couple years back until I finally found the issues in big volumes with this info in it online and bought them. So I have a lot of comics, and I read through the comics in stores because I don't feel like buying them. I only look stuff up to keep up with whats going on in the DC universe because the book store I go to doesn't have all the issues, but if you're asking if I look this up just to answer thread questions, than no I don't. The questions people have been asking are kind of easy anyway.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
