geeogree suggested I share this somewhat interesting dam story so here it goes.

My mother has been having problems with rainwater eroding the hill in her back yard, and killing big patches of grass.
The yard is level with the house for a few yards but then it inclines into a hill making the whole yard uneven but not in a bad way.
Anyways I drove over to her house the other day the other day to see what I could do.
Lacking any sort of imagination I decided to focus on where the erosion was worst by putting together a sort of dam.
I cut some dam logs with a chain saw and lined them up on the hill.
First I buried a long skinny one at the bottom to keep them from rolling away, then I stacked them from largest at the bottom to smallest at the top.
After stacking the logs and making sure they were holing I took some dam clay to fill in the dam cracks, after that I didn't know what else to do.

So far I think my dam has worked, grass has started to grow back and its not so muddy over there after it rains.

Oh ok I never really built anything that I know of but I did make a drink coaster in art class before in 7th grade but I don't know if that counts

that's much bigger and more impressive than I was expecting. I was thinking it was going to be fairly small, but that is a damn big dam

geeogree : well I think since its just dirt at the top the water probably just sinks into the ground.

maybe ill try to make a pond at the top later...I have alot of free time.

Man, it looks awesome where you live at.
Ive only tryed to build a damn once. It was in Prescott, AZ. Me and my cousins tryed to build a damn to stop the flow of water at some creek. But it wasnt easy building a damn where the water was already flowing strong. So we half assed it, then eventually got distracted by trying to catch crawlfish/crawldads(whatever they are called).

Actually that's not my place, that my moms house. I live in a crappy apartment down in the hood so I try to get away whenever I can lol.

And yeah I can sympathize Craw fish are really distracting and are pretty tasty when you make em right.

Not bad. Not bad at all. I happen to have a good imagination and I were doing something like I would probably end up carving some sort of small stream somewhere nearby. Make it look like a river. Then build a tiny bridge over it. Oh, how cute it would be.¬_¬

lol. Ive dug a pond before! Thats some tough work there! lol. Plan ahead figure out where your going to put the dirt and how your going to get it there.
