It would be really hard for Sega to make a new console considering the competition and they would probably not make enough money and become bankrupt.

I actually got left out of the Sega systems, I played them at my friends house, but never owned them, and have never played the original Dreamcast. From an outsiders opinion this presentation seems a bit cheap for such a large development that has been desired by people for years, and would somehow mean that Sega would be splitting off from Nintendo (Nintendo owns Sega in case you didn't know that already.) It would also jeopardize future contracts with Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, why would Sega release games for other consoles when they have their own? It seems quite a bit risky for the company, it would have to sever existing contracts to sell a gamesystem, but how many people have enough money to buy a gamesystem that other companies don't have contracts with, and thus are less likely to release games for? I find it unlikely that the Dreamcast 2 is ever coming out.

Nintendo wasn't trying to make it too obvious at first, and it's Nintendo's back up in case their consoles fail, they can still make money from the succeeding consoles, it also allows them to see what their competition's consoles can handle and how they work without illegal espionage. Although Nintendo was sued by Sony for stealing Dualshock technology and using it in Gamecube controllers, and the original virtual console controllers. Sega probably made this much easier for them to do since they would be working with that technology daily.

SEGA is it's own company, as last I checked, they were also making games for Sony and Microsoft. SEGA does make more than just Sonic the Hedgehog you know...

Exactly as legacyme3 says, Sega makes many games and all of those games are multiplatform, if Nintendo owned Sega than they wouldn't allow Sega to make games for Xbox 360 and PS3 because that'd be just really silly.

The thing is, it's best for Sega to be multi-platform, because this way they make more money.

Apparently they have the patent to two controllers though? What is this? =3

Any news on a release date? According to the first post, it was speculated at 10/10/10, however as we can see it is past that date, and no dreamcast 2. =P

legacyme3 : It's all just rumors. Sega has released a lot of strange devices in Japan (or maybe it was China) which kinda shows they have some interest in developing hardware.

Davideo7 : I've know it for a few years, a friend told me a few years ago, but considering this release trailer (Which still could be fake) it might not be true, but it would explain all the sonic exclusives that Nintendo has had, and the fact that about all the old sonic games are on the Wii virtual console, but only 3 or 4 of them are for PSN, XBLA, and Steam. Maybe he thought Nintendo bought them out because their consoles stopped coming out, though if that was the case he would have said this earlier. I could see why Nintendo would buy Sega though.
