Final Fantasy vs Star ocean

hey guys and gals =]

How bout comparing it to a longer lasting RPG franchise, since Star Ocean has only what? Five games? I have to admit that some of Star Ocean's plotlines are better than some of FF's plotlines, especially FF8's plotline.

What's X-10?
I've never played or heard of Star Ocean before but another FF game with a good plot line is Tactics. The original one for the Playstation. It's a bit more complex than the other games but still good.

I like Final Fantasy better overall, but Star Ocean is pretty good. But I like all Tri-Ace games, like Valkyrie Profile and Infinite Undiscovery. A better thread question would be, what is better: Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior/Quest? Seeing how these are some of the first RPGs ever made. -------------------- |

As chugchu said, Tri-Ace are actually the developers of games like Star Ocean.
SquareEnix are just the publishers. The other thing I keep in mind is that the games Tri-Ace release were normally released under the Enix company, so I don't really in any way think that they are Squaresoft games. Funnily enough Enix also produced the Dragon Warrior games. So if you consider that Tri-Ace focuses on a few series rather then one only, you can see that they have a few 3-5 game series under their belt. It seems more and more these days SquareEnix just buys developers and releases stuff under the SE name rather then make anything themselves. All they really work on is FF. I like the work Tri-Ace does, so to be on topic I have to say that Star Ocean is by far the better series. Sure, it might not have as many games, but I feel the games that are in it are more in depth, heartfelt, and dont rely to much on the same formula time after time. I honestly like Star Ocean better. Mostly because the mythology and plot lines are almost always a breath of fresh air.

I rather enjoyed Star Ocean 3. Albel, Cliff, & Sophia were my favorites. But I'll still have to say I enjoyed FF a bit more. They were a bit easier to get into as far as the jobs went & that's a big reason why I play RPGs.

Well, both games are good, but I'll go with FF on this one. if i had to chose between FF7 or Star Ocean 3 i would pick FF7, it was the only FF game that had a good story line and it still does. oh and maybe FF6 because it's the only game that doesn't have a happy ending HAHA -------------------- |

I like both Final Fantasy and Star Ocean, they both are different and unique. I have Star Ocean 3 and I replayed it many times, its that fun. I probably think that the PS3 got the trophy idea from this game, but thats my opinion. I also got Final Fantasy 7, 8, 12, Tactics Advance, and X-2 which introduced different characters and gamplay. Both these games are fun and one isn't better than the other. |
