I found this cheat from a DQ VI walkthrough. I tried it out and it does work which makes so much faster and easier to build up your tokens. So here it is:

Play poker using the maximum bet. When you have won a hand do a save before answering yes to double your winnings. If you won again, save again. If you've lost re-load your saved game. Keep doing this until you've reached the maximum winnings of $10,000. When you've reached the maximum winnings, it will ask if you want to play another hand of poker. Save and say yes if you need the tokens to buy stuff for your characters.
