This is just something i was thinking of today in school when we were talking about incidents in the news...

Isn't it amazing how: If a white person is murdered it is a tradegy, if a "minority" is murdered its a hate crime. If many white people die then suddenly they aren't tradegies but they magically become statistics, and if a large group of "minorities" are murdered then it is called genocide. What the hell is our world coming to? If someone is murdered in cold blood, it's only one thing.. bad. Why differenciate people from each other when they lose their life?

Sorry to go off on a rant, I just think of things like this from time to time

Well, I can ask you one thing, can you make it more "stupid proof" because yes I am one of the stupids out there, the only thing that I got is that a death is a death there is no difference so why treat some so differently?

Its just the way the world is. It will change in time. But for today, it will remain the same. Its like trying to lead a stubborn donkey down the road. You pulling all the time aint gonna help it. It will come when it wants.

I really get annoyed when people (athletes in particular) play the race/minority card. I think Barry Bonds is digging him a hole. One of the things he said recently was that he was being scrutinized because Babe Ruth was white and he was black (his words not mine). I don't really think that is it at all. I mean when Babe Ruth played media wasn't nearly as big. TV's weren't even around yet. And I will admit that Hank Aaron was probably scrutinized a lot just because of the time. But I don't think people are really harder on Barry just because he is black. I mean look at the mess Mark McGwire got himself into. I mean only 50% of fans think of him favorablly now. And 25% think of him unfavorably. In 1998 is was like 87% favorable and like 3% unfavorable.

Look at the entire thing around the OJ Simpson case. I mean look for the ESPN 25 The Headlines episode that was about it. Granted it was about 10 or 11 years ago, but it really fills us (as we were so young at the time) in on what surrounded the case.

But back to the original post I agree. One death is just as much a tragedy as another. As far as the statistic thing goes they have to be calm as reporters and people are going to want to know how many deaths were caused.

I think that is true with a lot more people now. But there are people that treat people different because of race or color which ever you prefer to go by. There are others that do the reverse and think that you owe them just because you are in the majority or some reason that you can do nothing about.

I personally believe that Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds should have their records revoked or edited in some fashion. Performance enhancing drugs were not available to Babe Ruth nor anyone at the time.

I especially hate when people try to defend their hate with their religion. I know people who are christians that believe being homosexual is a sin, but they think that in turn its ok to hate homosexuals in general because they believe it to be a sin.

Difference is the key to being human, no one is exactly the same in genetic makeup or ideals.

who says Christians hate gays just because they disagree with the lifestyle choice.... any person claiming to be Christian that hates someone because they are gay.... is commiting a sin.... but whatever.... not totally sure where that all came from


as for Baseball.... get over it... either legalize it, or ban it completely.... and adjust everything accordingly....

I'm not sure they hate gay guys, they are dissappointed in their choice as a person, it is not correct when god said to multiply and replenish the earth and you can't do that when your gay....guys are for girls and girls are for guys..that's the bottom line.

Im only talking about a select few people I know. If a black leader rose to power in some country and started killing white people I dont see how that would differ from genocide.

That's right I don't hate homosexuals I hate their sin. I'm not going to hate people because they are, but if they ask me then I have to tell them that I think it is wrong and that they are sinning.

And Geeogree they can't legalize it. Steroids are illegal by federal law. They can't really adjust the records because we don't know how many homeruns were hit just because of Steroids.

BB I do see your point about the performance enhancing drugs. But are we sure that Barry actually used any?

Oh and the everyone is different thing... A couple would have to have 5 million kids to have 2 kids the same. Probably more then that when you consider mistakes in genes.

Why would they change the records anyway? They'ed have to changed retired people too, because that's a garenteed things that people that retired have used the substance. It's not cool that they used the steroids but they are still the ones using their bodies to hit the homeruns because they could just sit there and do nothing.

well, obviously the only thing to do is to ban them completely.... and kick anyone out that continues to use them from now on....

there's no point in trying to dig into the past and fix mistakes.... just prevent new ones from happening

I think this is funny. Cuz i remember reading about how some gays were protesting and the church came out to give them donuts. A basic symbol of peace in the christian religion, the breaking of bread. They took the donuts and threw them to the ground. They then told their children (adopted of course) not to take anything from the christians and that they were bad people. Oh yea did i mention that the people passing them out were kids?!

That was the symbolic form the cops that are discusted with their chief it's something bad WHEN A COP THROWS DOWN A DONUT!

Steroids haven't been that bad in sports up until the last 20 years or so that I know of. And see they wouldn't have to worry about many records. Just the ones about home runs and there are only 2 that people care about. Most in a season and most in a career.

The thing is Bonds broke one and has a good shot at the other. We can't do anything about Bonds or McGwire Breaking Maris's record of 61 in a season, because like I said we don't know how much the steroids affected them. IF Bonds used/uses steroids then we need to get him banned so he can't break Hank Aaron's record.

Oh, I understand, I had the lack of information on the news but now I understand a bit more, I always thought that Bonds was a natural Mule, so to speak, but I totally knew from the start about McGwire, used the stuff, lol.
