Hello. I guess this will be my first thread outside the newbie section and since I like music, I'll probably come to this section often.

So, what are some of your favorite movie scores/soundtracks? I'm more interested in music that was written specifically for the movie, instead of songs picked for the soundtrack, but either way, what are some of your favorites?

I"ll start off with my favorite.

Once upon a time in the west - by Ennio Morricone

If you're not familiar, it is a 1968 spaghetti western directed by Sergio Leone. Morricone had scored films for Leone before and you would probably know the theme song from 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly".

This is truly an amazing score that adds so much to the movie and I couldn't imagine watching it without the music.

I would highly recommend both the score and the movie.

You should check out the song 'Man With the Harmonica' right now. It is epic.

Two of my all time favorite original soundtracks are from Braveheart and Lawrence of Arabia. Both of them are amazing, and when I listen to them I can usually visualize what's happening in the movie at that time.

Everytime I hear the music from Lawrence of Arabia it always makes me think of those amazing shots of the desert. Music that can make a barren desert seem serene and beautiful.

I'll try to hold back and let others post some of their favorites, but another favorite of mine is...

Ravenous by Damon Albarn and Michael Nyman

Another soundtrack that adds so much to the movie. I love how they use some of the music to add to the movies odd, dark sense of humor. Like that old folk music that's used during the chase scene outside of the cave. My favorite song from the soundtrack is Boyd's Journey.

Well, anything by John Williams is a favorite on my list lol. The Lord of the Rings soundtracks are great too. And I would say that the soundtrack off of the Dark Knight is awesome because it really helps to add the suspense. That's all I can think of for now. There's probably a lot more though
