I'd like to know what kind of instrument you play and if you know, how expensive the instrument was when you bought it. Well, I have 2 guitars, an acoustic bass, a trumpet, and two trombones.
My Acoustic guitar (Jasmine by Takamini) was $150 My Electric guitar (Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus) was $600 My Acoustic bass (Dean Jumbo acoustic/electric bass) was $200 My trumpet (unknown model, got it at an antique store) was $100 My small bore trombone (Yamaha brand, model unknown) was $1,200 My large bore trombone with F attachment (Bach Stradivirius, model unknown) was $3,000 but I got it on sale for $2,200.

well....since my brother has played in bands forever it seems....and he knows one of the locale music stores owner...i have gotten some pretty good deals on my instruments.

I play guitar (rock and roll, metal, acoustic). I have two semi-pro guitars both running $700 and I have two semi-pro amps. One amp was $600 and the other amp was $400. My final piece of equpment is a multi-effect processing board which was $500. I've spent entirely way too much money on it but it's actually not as bad as what some guitar equipment can run. I'd like to trade some of my stuff for a nice tener sax one day. -------------------- |

I got my trumpet on Ebay for $300 (pricey, yes, but it is a very good one) and I got my Coronet (which is virtually a trumpet, but just squished with a slightly different tubing system) for virtually free, since it was my dad's... way back in the 1960's, and he got it a garage sale for $25. Still works like a charm, although the valves tend to stick a bit after playing for a while.

mdynasty926 : I'm assuming you bought your trombone new and not from ebay though, correct? (A new trumpet is upwards of $2,000 depending on the quality, and since I don't do it professionally or anything, the one I have suits my needs just fine). Of course, if you got your trombone from ebay for 1000, meaning that it was used before, you can rest assured that it is a very good trombone. -------------------- |

~sakura~ : My trombone was bought from a music store. The owner or whatever was nice enough to let students who were entering band for the 5th grade rent theirs before buying, so it seemed less expensive(or, it was a lot easier to pay). I don't remember how long it took, but it probably was about a year. And I think it was 200 a month so it's roughly 2,400? I'm surprised my parents actually approved of buying one... mdynasty926 : I was involved in my school band, but I had to quit before I start high school because my schedule was out of periods. It's a useful skill though, and hopefully it will stay with me (and you, if you decide to quit) for a while. And for all you know, you may find that you have a passion for it and you love it a lot, or you may hate it. Try to like it though- since you're taking a curricular class, you'll be stuck with it anyways, so you may as well enjoy what you've got. -------------------- |
